    Default Bra fitters

I had my BA 8 months ago and Im really unsure of my size. Bra shopping is fun but I have bought a few bras and I dont think any of them are the correct size for me. One seemed ok when I tried it on but after wearing it for a few hours the underwire was digging into the side of my boob and left a sore red mark. Another one that I bought for work doesn't really cover my nipples properly which is ok for work I guess LOL.

I think I need to get fitted by a bra fitter. Is it worth doing this or can I measure myself? The hard thing I guess is that bra manufacturers dont seem to have standard sizes because the shape and styles of bras vary greatly. Some shapes and styles I just dont seem to fit at all.

Where can I go to get fitted properly?

Department stores are usually pretty good for fittings. I usually go to Myer and go when it's quieter so there aren't as many people trying to be fitted. It makes a difference too because the fitters usually know what different shapes of bras are going to fit you best as well.

I thought of Myer actually. Coz Bras n Things seems to have gone to shit recently. They dont have much of a range anymore. It's disappointing I used to like that store.

Do the women at Myer def know what they are doing tho? I dont want to buy anymore incorrect sizes LOL.

I've only been fitted a few times and they were pretty good. Some of the bras they showed me were a bit ugly but you don't have to buy them if you don't like them. It definitely helps though to get the right size and then look around yourself. It's weird, I can fit into about five different sizes ok in the shop so when they fit me properly it helps me get the right one haha

Cool thanks I will prob go there tomorrow as I plan to go shopping.

I wonder if I have the size totally wrong. I've been assuming I would be a 10D (that's 32D in US sizing) but they seem too small so Im really not sure. HAHA my surgeon said i'd be a large C to a D and there is just no way im anywhere near a C cup a C cup bra wouldnt even cover half of my boob.

Getting fitted for a bra is always a good idea, but sometimes the fitters can make mistakes, too. I was pretty spot on with bra fitting when I worked at VS. I always told our clients to grab one cup size up and one cup size down before heading to the fitting room to see which one they thought fit better. The bra fitter can always give you the numbers, but it's up to YOU to decide on which size is more comfortable and flattering at the same time.

My push up bras and regular bras are all the same size. Push up bras are made to feel smaller around the cup/breast so that the cleavage 'pops' out. So the sizes should be the same--but remember, it's still up to you since all bras are made differently.

Every time I get professionally measured they say... 34B, except when I try the bra on it's cripplingly wrong... poking in wire, cups runneth over.

The problem with the conventional measuring formula is that it measures projection on a standard kind of width boob.

Mine have never stuck out far because the volume is spread across in width. I have a D cup width with a B projection. See what I'm saying?

So you could very well have a totally different width.

I end up taking a bunch of bras in (like Mily says above). No one believes I'm a 34D because they don't stick out far... I'm not going to squeeze into a B to make them happy.

    Measurements are useless.

before my BA I had all width and no projection too so I def know what u mean. my boobs would be bulging out the sides of the bra but there would be no cleveage.

I am going to take that advise. I didnt go shopping today but will be going tomorrow!! thanks ladies.
