    Default wedding help??

I am a bit of a spazz at fashion related things. I have picked out a dress for my wedding, it is not a wedding dress. Its a black velvety gown with a red satin panel at the front and corset lacing at the front, it has a stiff underskirt of black tulle stuff. The sleeves are elbow length and lacy. Um yes i am not good at description, I'll post a pic when I find my camera... its long and gothic.

My problem is shooeeess... what kind of shoes can I wear?? I dont really have any high heels, except for chunky leather boots (of all descriptions) Probably wont even see my shoes under the skirts of the dress, but I'll know they are there and I would love any ideas on what would go.

Also, my hair. I had my heart set on getting it braided (I usually do this every year or so) with extensions so it would be long and sexy and easy to style. My natural hair is kind of lame and flat, half assed wavy, and thin, and a boring length of just past my shoulders. But I am realising that a 9 month old baby is not going to deal with mummy's 8 hour hair dressing appointment. So I am letting go of that idea. Is there any quicker ways of achieving that look? Like if I get falls or dread extensions would that be quicker to put in? If not what the hell can I do with my hair?

I just need some inspiration if anyone has any...

For shoes, maybe check out just simple flats, which would be comfy and cute, but would still fit in with the gothic tone of the dress.

I found a great pair of slippers at Ren Faire that were black velvet with a red trim; they were adorable and comfortable, and I got tons of compliments on them.

As for the hair, maybe try clip in extensions? You can get relatively cheap, real hair ones at most beauty supplies stores (mine were $70 at Sally's).

You could get a hairdresser to put them in just right for you at the wedding, and style 'em.

Ohh those slippers sound cute! I might hunt around for something like that, I do have a tendency to fall on my bum in high heels, lol one of my greatest failings in becoming a dancer, and the main reason I opted for peep show work where I didnt have to strut about so much!

I've been thinking about clip in extensions... I maybe need to get something and play around. Or bite the bullet and talk to a hairdresser, they kinda bamboozle me though!

I know you probably won't want to wear stripper shoes to your wedding but when you described your dress I thought of these ones.

I'll have a look and se if I can find something similar without the platform.

omfg they are sooo sexy my boyfriend wouldnt let me make it down the aisle!! hehe honestly though I dont care about the stripper shoe aspect of it, just the falling on my ass aspect of it. We are having the wedding in a garden so there will be walking on grass to consider... Apart from the spikey heels those shoes are great though!!

Hey hon, sorry for the late post, seeing those shoes in the other post reminded me to look for shoes for you with a lower heel. What do you think of these?

The wedge might make it easier walking in the grass.

If no one can see the shoes then you can definitely keep it simple. Try something like these:

It is a 5" heel, but there's no platform. Plus the higher heel would help make sure the dress doesn't fall all the way to the ground so you won't have the risk of tripping on it.

Why not get some "proper" wedding shoes and then have them dyed black or red to match? Most Ivory shoes are actually designed to be dyed. make sure you get the dye "fixed" though, as it may run if it rains or you get sweaty feet!
The great thing about wedding shoes is that the designers KNOW you'll be wearing them all day!
