Default Girls doing drugs...I left...was it a bad move?

So there's normally about 4-5 girls on dayshift during the week. Three out of the five are cool as hell, but they are druggies...(sorry if that offends anyone). When I went in today, everything was cool...then out of nowhere one of the girls pulls out some heroin and starts snorting it...the other two did that also. I didn't say anything because it's their bodies and they can do what they want. Not my problem.

But for some very odd reason, it really disturbed me...and I got so upset about it that I left early. The barmaid tried to get me to stay but I said that I just needed to go. Now I'm no dumbass...I know that there are some girls who do drugs and whatnot, and while its none of my business, it just disturbs me to see it done right in front of me.

I know it was kinda a bad move because who knows...I could've made $$$ if I stayed, but I just wasn't in the mood anymore. I was pissed because IMO, it makes us girls who don't do that look bad. Maybe I'm just having a rough day in general.

Do you think it was wrong of me to leave? What would you have done?

^^^It is your business when they are doing it at your club because if there were a bust you would likely become involved.

If the are nodding off then you will be the best hustler by default.

It can be hard to deal with -- I have worked in clubs with a lot of open drug use and if you can get your mind into it, then the advantage of being NOT drugged up is very valuable.

Just lock your shit up. You have more to worry about in the dressing room than on the floor in a situation like that.

We always have to deal w/ stuff that goes into the awful stripper stereotypes (like that thread, but negative).

I don't get caught up in other peoples choices and whether or not they do this or that..... of course there is the risk the police could choice to raid the club when they was sniffing there stuff you'd probably be going down the same way as them. Personally I'd pretend that it wasn't happening and go about my biz. I mean 5 girls strung out on drugs and 1 straight who has the chance at a better hustle?

Nicole we grew up right by each other and that's not a drug that people do around here. I've never seen anyone do it either and it would probably freak me out too.

To be honest, not that it should matter, if they were doing coke or something it wouldnt have bothered me as much but the big H freaks me out.

Exactly...but its honestly a competition when it comes to that...like today...I was the only girl who wasn't high (it was 4 of us today) or drunk. But I hustled my ass off and made what I could, but of course they made better because they were so fucked up that they were being extra sexual so guys liked that more. And I've seen some shit go down today...

I just couldn't handle it...it just seems like they get the better end because they are willing to do anything and everything so of course the guys are spend $$$ on them rather than on me regardless. Is that the wrong way to think?

If u were too shook up to do a good job yourself then I think it was wise to leave and not waste your own time. But seriously I expect there to be a few girls on drugs every day at my club and I just mind my own business. U leaving didnt make them any less drugged up around the clubs patrons did it? Just try to ignore it next time.

I know golden...one of the girls is actually a top earner at the club, and she was the one who taught me the things I needed to know in the club, so I was really shocked when I saw her...and no, it didn't.

It would have upset me too. What they do is their business but at least have the courtesy to be discreet about it. I've never worked in a place that girls were so open about it to just pull it out, they'd at least go in the bathroom or out back.

I probably would have left too.

I am NOT cool with open use of hard drugs (mary is decriminalized here, so not so bothered by that).

To be honest, this seems like a new trend here, I never really noticed it until recently. There are a TON of clubs here in Portland though, so I would just find another club if this is allowed to go on.

I guess it depended on whether or not you have choices where you are at. I haven't really visited at a ton of clubs that allow it because the clubs can get in trouble, too.

    good luck

    WOW

I do not blame you for walking out. If I witnessed all of the other girls I work with, pulling heroin out and snorting it like it out in the open like it was a cup of coffee, I would have been disturbed and somewhat disgusted.

I don't look down on this, as much as it just really saddens me, and alters my mood when something like this happens.

If you don't feel comfortable there, you should do research on diffrent clubs (or even diffrent shifts?) where this shit wouldn't fly or at least the drug use wouldn't be so blatant.

Most clubs I worked at had at least a couple people who did drugs. Now, no one ever did them in front of me. And I am surprised they did in front of you not knowing whether you used or not.

I pretty much minded my own business when I danced. I did my make-up and hair at home and wore a button down shirt so all I had to do when coming in is change clothes and touch-ups. I befriended one girl who was pretty much like me and very business minded. We came to work, didn't indulge in in bs with girls or try to make friends, we'd make our money and leave. That's the best way to be IMO. If you choose to look the other way and keep your eye on the price it'll be easier for you. That being said I wouldn't want to work in a club where people are doing drugs out in the open on a regular basis. I think that's sort of asking for trouble but you'll find most people will do it in private (go the bathroom, etc.).

i get where you are coming from.....I don't anything when it comes to drugs and I've worked at both clubs where its frowned on and ones where drug use is very open......although it does not bother me and doesn't phase me.....it became an issue for me when it got to the point in a club when people got mad at me when I wanted cash for a lapdance instead of drugs. They got really pissed when I would not take the drugs....they would be like well I don't have the cash....just take it and sell it if you don't have the cash....HELL NO! I WANT MY MONEY!

I wouldn't feel comfortable working somewhere with as open drug use as that. Aren't thetre any other clubs in your area you can work in?

Same. I don't think you can be blamed for being upset, but personally I would not have been phased by anything the other girls were doing; their business is theirs, mine is mine. There are few things that could make me leave work early.

There are a few other clubs I can work at...but I like this one because its really laid back (obviously) and I make my own shift which I like also.

Like I said before, it isn't any of my business cause if they wanna fuck up their bodies with that, then thats on them. Their all adults and can make their own decisions, BUT, God forbid that anything goes down and a cop comes in or something, then we're all going down...and I'm NOT about to get in trouble over something that I don't or will not ever do. It's just not fair.

i'd stop dancing if you have to go home when you see girls doing drugs. or if you can't work in a club where it's done.

sorry to sound harsh but there aren't too many drug free clubs out there.

txchick, what I mean is like what I had said earlier...guys will come in the club and expect us to do the same shit that the girls do when their high. Get what I'm saying? Clubs get a reputation...so when guys come in there, some of them will automatically think that we're going to pull them in the back and fuck them or give them a blow job because the other girls have done it. And it makes us look bad because me, and like alot of the other girls, we're not hookers. We dance, make our $$$, leave and be on our merry way.

The girls who do drugs make everyone look bad, even the ones who don't.
Not fair but that's how some people see it, I guess.

I hear ya now.. It just sounded weird in your post - like you were saying it made you look bad that you didn't "do drugs" as well. I'm glad you don't!

I would have left as well, we have one girl in particular that does drugs and is tweaked out every time she comes in. For some reason knowing someone is on drugs makes me feel VERY uncomfortable and I can handle knowing they are on them-I just don't speak to those girls however to actually have to see them doing drugs would make me walk out. At least you didn't snitch-that would have been crossing the line IMO.

I've never seen a dancer do hardcore drugs in front of me or out in the open, if I saw it I would find it disturbing but not distracting. I'd probably stay lol.

I am not surprised that and don't think you should feel bad that it totally weirded you out and chased you off, not everyone is desensitized to flagrant hardcore drug-usage! And just because you strip doesn't mean you have to compromise your personal boundaries. If it was something that seriously tested your comfort levels you did the best thing by leaving.

I would have been weirded out too. Like Camelia said, porland the clubs don't allow it, since htey're accountable too.

I don't care what they do on their own time, but it would bother me, that I was at risk too, if hte police came in and saw their drugs all over the dressing room.
