    Default Hiring an animal communicator/psychic

My dog Jane has been having nightmares lately. I decided to call an animal communicator/pet psychic. I'm really interested to see what comes of it!

Has anybody here ever done that?

DISCLAIMER: No flame posts from nonbelievers/skeptics, please. I practice shamanism (look it up if you don't know what it is) and this kind of thing is part of my spiritual practice. And yes, I do believe psychics are real because of personal experience. It's fine if your own beliefs are very different from mine (of course) but please be respectful when replying.

I'm not trying to flame at all..but I've never heard of something like this ie. for animals. How do you know if they are telling you the truth? How much does this cost?

This is seriously very interesting to me.

Did you watch the episode of Girls Next Door when Kendra hired one???

Be careful & make sure to get as much of a reputable one as you can.

I've heard great things about this.

    So here's a wild story.

I have a pet sitter that I recommended to another friend.

Well, the pet sitter lost the ferret, but lied to the owner about it. Said the ferret died. (Shady, but that's not the point.)

Well, the owner contacted a pet psychic because she was a little concerned why there was no body. Well, the psychic said the ferret was alive and the vicinity where it was.

And THEY FOUND THE FERRET!!! This is difficult because most people don't even realize that a ferret is someone's pet because it looks like a wild animal. So unlike a dog or cat getting lost, it's really quite amazing to find a ferret in the woods.

And she contacted this specific psychic because of all the positive reviews she heard from her. I believe.

Yeah I have never really heard of it before either, but I got the idea in my head that it must be possible. It's certainly a lot less weird than many other experiences I've had in the psychic realm!

I figure I'll know if it's accurate or not by what the lady tells me -- if it doesn't seem real, or if it doesn't apply, I think that it would "feel" off. Like it would be something I sense.

She's only charging $40, so it's not a lot of money to lose if it turns out to be crap. But I think if it's crap, that would be because she sucked rather than because the idea did. Animals do communicate with each other in the wild, even though they don't necessarily speak the same language, and there's evidence that they psychically know things sometimes, such as when the elephants evacuated before the tsunami. So I think this is within the realm of possibility.

The lady who does this has gotten a lot of press, so that somehow makes me feel a bit more comfortable with her. http://www.holisticanimal.com/pagesm...ngservices.htm

Did they smell the ferret's blanket like a sniffing dog? How do you think they honed on that exact ferret? (Things to make you ponder).

Jenny, the psychic actually asks for a picture and a personal item of the pet.

It's really a bizarre story, but I was indirectly involved, so I know it's true. I wouldn't knock it at all after seeing that. I've even though about consulting her to find out why my Jack Russell is such an asshole.

This sounds interesting. I'm a nonbeliever when it comes to the supernatural and/or the mystic but I might try it.

My cat came to me as a stray kitten and I constantly wonder about her origins. She has some rather weird behavior that I've never experienced before and I was raised with cats. It's very endearing though.

Ive thought about doing this. Meerkat is crazy - she mellowed out then got all crazy again and started peeing and pooing on the carpet again. Running around all nuts, biting and being mean.

Its frustrating and I want to know whats wrong and what I can do to make her happier.

I can understand why she won't do it herself... the same reason generally why you "shouldn't" read your own tarot cards even if you are a great 'reader' of them. You are too emotionally invested in the outcome.

You need to have a 'clear head' and be unbiased. Be objective.

Tho I do read my own cards I usually put myself in a state of mind where I am genuinely open to the answers and thus the reading can be more accurate.

Plus yes I believe this can be successful. I may do this in the future for Marnie.. just to get some idea why she is she bites so much (it's harmless really however I would love to know what made her to do originally)...

There are pet psychics on liveperson.com for as low as .50-1.00 per minute, but that site has a bad reputation for having fake psychics that are slow typers or don't spell properly lol. There are some genuine ones on that site though..try it out and use your gut if you want to go the "chat online with a psychic" route.

so strange you mention this. they talk about this fairly often on one of my horse boards. seemingly with success.
my horse was a rescue and three years are unaccounted for. i have always wondered if this would work and i could find out what she has been through.
let us know if you do it and your results.

Thanks for the info. Something's wrong with my cat. I'm not sure if he's depressed, physically hurt or sick. I'm taking him to the vet on Friday but I want answers NOW. I'm so worried about him. And sad.

Totally agreed - hope it can help you with your pet.

I've heard positive things about using a psychic with a pet.

If I could, I would! But I am not by any means a shaman -- just a spiritual person at the very beginning stages of exploring shamanism.

OK, so I called the woman tonight. Overall, I dunno, I wasn't 100% convinced, but I think she did say some accurate and interesting things.

She began by describing my dogs' personalities. She did nail Jane's personality -- she described her as very smart, very friendly and exuberant. She said she doesn't like rules. She also described my other dog (Greta) correctly as a lover of rules, graceful and elegant. She said Greta doesn't like when Jane misbehaves (correct).

Then she said Jane wants to me to take her back to obedience school, which didn't really make sense to me. She also said Jane wants to know why she doesn't get to go on longer walks and I told her it was because of her leg injuries, which long walks tend to agravate. The psychic asked if it was a hip problem, and I said no. She then asked if it was her rear right leg, and I said yes, it's both of her back knees -- both had ACL injuries.

I asked about Jane's nightmares and she told me that Jane was dreaming about a tall, thin black man chasing her and dragging her by her back hips, perhaps leading to a hip injury. She said she hasn't seen this before and it seems like an uncommon image. Interestingly, I got Jane from an animal shelter in Harlem, NY. So it is quite likely that her former owner was black. I asked the psychic if Jane abused and she said she wouldn't call it abuse per se, but that the guy was doing it out of frustration with Jane's energy level (she was a crazy hyper puppy) and it was traumatic for Jane. She told me she was telling Jane that she doesn't have to fear that happening ever again.

She said Jane is smart and wants more mental stimulation and wants to go explore the outdoors -- both of those things seem probably true to me.

When I asked her if Greta wanted to communicate anything, she said Greta wanted to eat hotdogs. Now, what is a red flag there for me is a) we don't feed her hotdogs and b) on this woman's web site is a testimonial from a lady who says her dog asked for hotdogs during the communication. So it kinda struck me as bullshit there.

However, when the phone call was over, I said, "Now Jane, do you think that was real?" And Jane got up (she was laying down) and hugged me. She put her paws on my lap and leaned into me.

Overall I would say that the woman probably was great at reading personalities but I don't think I'm convinced that she actually communicated with my dogs.

Update: I told my mom about the hotdog comment and she told me that actually Greta did used to get hotdogs during obedience training.

That is really cool! I'm tempted to try this. I want to know how to be a better "aunt" (they were my sister's cats first).

Did you pay for that phone call and if so, do you mind sharing how much?

I'm not sure if I believe in pet communicators or not, but they do intrigue me and I would hire one if I had spare money just to see what was said...alhough my animals pretty much have no issues aside from my cats being born in a feral community and being trapped and rehabilitated.
