    Default changing my hair color

This is for all you hair coloring experts

I wanna change my hair color.
    I currently am this color
http://styles101.homestead.com/haircolor.html (the girl at the top of the page)
Anyways my natural color is a dark brown(level 3 so i have been told by colorists)
I wanna go darker or possibly, dare i say red.

I love the "2 coreys" show on A and E and susie feldman constantly goes from red to brown and back. I have had every hair color imaginable but i usually always stick to blonde or like my current, brownish with dark blonde higlights.

My question is : do i need to see a hair colorist for this or can i achieve a nice rich brown color on my own?

Confused... You want to darker and redder than what you have now or do you want to go darker and redder than your natural level?

You'll need to go to a colorist/stylist. To go dark she will have to fill the blonde with your natural pigment before applying a permanant shade. Which means she should dye the blonde a medium red brown using demi then put the darker permanant shade on top. Now, that being said she can fill the blonde a more intense red shade then put the brown on top or she can put an auburn on top. You actually have a lot of choices, look at some photos and show her your ideas. I don't watch much television plus celebrities are always changing their look so refering to a show isn't very helpful for me. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I agree that a 'fill' is nessacary and best handled by an expierienced colorist... However, I highly recommend you find a colorist who isn't planning on using a permanent color on you at all. IMHO and in my expierience, it's totally unessacary in a scenario like yours. You're going darker so there is no need to use a color product that swells the cuticle and damages hair.
