    Default Dashdini

    My dog is houdini reincarnated.

his kennel closes with a zipper. It took him a day to figure out how to open the zipper. So I started facing his cage towards the wall so if he opened ths zipper he had nowhere to go. he learned how ro ram his body against the back of the cage t move it back far enough to get out after opening the zxipper. ok. So I started closing the zipper with a garbage twist tie. that worked for 3 day before he figured out how to gt the twist tie off and get out of the cage. So I used he twise tie and faced the cage into the wall. That lasted a day. So I started tied the zippers together. he learned how to stick his nose between the zippers and work them open enough to loosen the tie and get out.

So I got serious. I bought a fuckign padlock. With a key. That worked for almost a week before he figuredf out how to nose between the zippers again and squeeze though. So I started padlockign the zippers and interlocking the padlock between the zip[pers and the mesh of the cage.

The litle fucker figured out how to fuckign pop open the padlock! I admit, I boguht a small cheap padlock. I didt think I needed heavy duty security measures to keep the dog in his cage. How is he popping open the padlock?

I guess I should hve bought a real wire crate....

I suppose it's time he stops being crated when home alone, cause nothgin is holdign this dog in.

Maybe I should move on to a combination lock....

Well, when I move I plan on tryign to see how he does with free run of the house when home alone. He is onyl crated now when home alone, out all the rest of the time, but he is still only 10 months old and still pisses on the floor when home alone and unsupervised. he's to fuckin smart. Damn dog. little fucker. I got a dog smarter than I am.

    A zipper on a crate?!

Invest in a good sturdy metal crate, if he's not 100% housebroken yet, he doesn't deserve the right to roam the house alone.

what about keeping him in the bathrrom when you're out? there's not too many destructive things he can do in there. Thats where my dogs hang out when i'm not home- they're potty trained, but tend to raid the trash if left to their own devices
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

I don't have anything useful to add, but that's hilarious!

I did this once with a dog I ownded, and when I got home, she had gnawed the bottom of the bathroom door into a long crescent shape and crawled out. It was a rental, and I feared the landlord, so I took the door off and took it to a wood shop with a table saw and cut the bottom off even with the top of where the dog had gnawed.

I think if Dash can escape his carrier all those ways, he will get out of the bathroom, too.

Maybe if Houdini could make money as an escape artist, you can make money with Dash, too. Bar bets, perhaps? Bet you can't lock up my dog so he can't get out. If they take the bet and you win, you've made money. If you lost, you've found out how to contain him.

LOL. I did try to lock him in the bathroom once. I put tape over the cabinet doors cause I didn't want him to open it and get into under the sink stuff. Guess what happened when I got home? Toilet paper party! He did get the door open somehow, pulled out all the toilet paper, my tampons, and tons of other random bathroom stuff and had a party. That was the first and last time he ever was in the bathroom.

I have gates up around the house so he is confined to whatever room I am in at the time. He can't get over the gates. I was in the living room and the gate ws up in the hallway. Once, he did somethign bad and I yelled at him. He ran through the house, hopped over the gate and hid under the desk. The gate is probably twice as tall as he is. I'm tellin you. I can't confine this dog, lol. He is determined.

The funny thing is..he loves his crate. He chooses to sleep in there and hide his toys in there. He just likes the challenge of trying to see how he can get out this time. And I do give him lots of thigns to stimulate his mind, it isn't like he should be bored. The dog has tons of different toys and games we play. Unfortunatly, they don't make many dog toys that are challenging enough for him. I might have to look in the kids toy aisle and see what I can find.
