Default How do you ask for...

...the money up front for a dance without sounding stupid?

"Let's take care of the money end of it now so we don't have to worry about it after the dance"? Yes? No? Variation?

I'd not, in 6 years of dancing, had a problem with someone not paying me until last weekend. Now I feel awkward asking.

    Help please!

I try to work out a "deal" on dances before I start dancing, I'll offer 4 dances for 90 dollars (10 off) and get the money up front, otherwise, I just hold out my g-string/garter after every 2 dances or so.
"Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above."

Hmmm.. I don't normally wear a garter. I have a few, just don't always wear them. Many of us at the club don't wear them. I could start wearing them mor eoften.. but what about when I am not wearing a garter? Also, do you keep the $$ in your garter as you dance for the customer or put it away somewhere else? I carry a purse as do many girls at my club.

Edit: The "business before pleasure" thing might work though... (tucks money into purse)

If your way has only gone bad once in six years, I don't necessarily think you need to chane things, unless you really want to or it starts happening more. Seems like it's been working out for you pretty well in general.

Since it is normal for everyone to pay up-front here in Australia, I always stick with the "business before pleasure" line or a variation thereof.

I haven't asked for it up-front yet, but whenever I want to hint on getting my $$$ (on stage, after a dance, etc), I hold my garter out. This is what I would do if I was attempting to collect LD money before the actual dance.

If you're in NY that won't work. It's actually against the law to tell someone what to tip bc it's considered prostitution as lame as that is....

So if they say they want one dance, you can't say "that is $20 please" ??

If asked, you can say like "oh most guys tip the amount of the token" or something, but you can't flat out say I want $20 for this dance.

Why is it that you feel the need to change your system over one incident? I think you might see a drop in earnings.

So they can hand you five bucks and its ok? I don't understand how that would work at all.

That hasn't been my experience in NYC clubs.

^^ I've been told this by the manager at my club. Maybe it's different in the city than upstate but all I know is that he made it out to be a big thing.

It might be becoming more common. I've heard other girls who guys have tried to stiff. Any guy who's honest won't mind paying up front. I know I wouldn't mind if it was me getting the dance.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies. I work in CT btw.

Do they just automatically know how much the lapdance is then? Do they just know to pay you or do they pay someone else? I mean someone has to collect or "ask for" the money.

When I go up to Wisconsin you always pay the bartender up front for your dances, and then they give you a receipt, which I found sort of strange. I've been to many clubs up there and it's the same way at each one of them. Less chance of confusion I guess..

^^Ditto. I've been stiffed maybe twice in three years. The only time I ask for money up front is if I think they're so damn drunk or if I sense they have no intention of paying. (Sometimes you just KNOW!)

To ask for money up front is considered very poor form at my club. Some (very few) just give the money up front, but most just pay when it's all over. It's never been a problem for me. One guy bought like 9 dances in a row from me and when it was over he ran out the ATM (i trusted him) and he came back with my $$ 5 minutes later. My first few days I was asking for money up front and the customers hated it, and I realized no one else did it that way.

I just chat them up on the way to the private dance area, then, once he's had a seat I say "Ok! So that's 20." Then smile and wait expectantly. If they just say "ok"
and don't hand it over, and I have a feeling I should get the money upfront, I just say "Do you mind if we get the payment out of the way so we can get right to the dancing when you're song starts?"(I always bring them back there towards the end of the last song, and start dancing next song).

If not asking upfront is working for you really well, I wouldn't change things.
