    Default Another cellulite question...

    Ok, in another thread I posted about how I was gaining weight even though I am in great cardiovascular shape. Several posters suggested I start weight lifting more.

    So I did, and that pretty much trumped the weight gain.

    I've been doing lots of squats and lunges with weights (via the 30 day shred DVD). My legs are much, much stronger. Overall, I'm getting very cut all over my body in fact (yay!).

    But my cellulite has gotten so bad in the past month! It's all over my ass and down to my knees! Is this related to the weight lifting -- the squatting and the lunging -- or is just bad genes?

    I hate getting old.

    Fat loss can cause cellulite, just as fat gain can: when you lose fat quickly, whether from cardio or from muscle improvement, it's sometimes uneven for a while. I always get massive cellulite for a couple of months when I start working out after being off the bus for a while. It fades in time.

    Cellulite has a lot to do with hydration, so make sure you're drinking a lot.

    Would you consider the harmony laser? My doc recommended it.

    im in the same boat, i never had cellulite until i started with weights...i only have it below my butt now but it sucks that you are doing something good for your body and you have to deal with freaking cellulite.

    this has helped me so much & i only just started doing it!!!
    my knees were getting saggy & flaky from dancing & it tightened them up, along with the rest of my skin.

    Put a very thick moisturizing body cream EVERY DAY all over your body, and really MASSAGE DEEP in the areas where you have cellulite. I'm doing it religiously for preventative purposes and trust me, not a single dimple!
    Next easiest thing is to drink A LOT of water, of course 8 glasses is recommended but if you drink at least 5 it will do u good!
    Exercising is of course the best and hardest thing to do, but all these three things combined definitely help prevent or minimaze cellulite.

    I'm losing weight, too, and I have more visible cellulite on my ass and legs. I lost the weight pretty fast due to stress. I guess I have to retone again and it will go away or what?

    I think dry brushing will increase circulation and slough off the top layer of the skin but it has little effect on cellulite because it cannot reach the deeper tissues. It may however help your skin look smoother by improving its surface layer. I also agree about excercising to reduce cellulite. It will reduce the overall amount of fat you have overall, thereby minimizing the amount of cellulite you have. Tone, firm muscles will also make the cellulite you do have less noticeable.
