    Default Should I feel bad?

I replied to an ad last week for a lady to come to my house once a week for about 5 hours at $20 an hour to clean my house. She also cooks, but she hasn't yet. I specified all I really wanted was basic tidying and DISHES (I was big on PLEASEDOMYDISHES!!!)... anwyay...

She did the dishes, she vacuumed the floors... SHE CLEANED MY CATBOX AND THE HAIR FROM MY BRUSHES... she made my bed and organized my messy desk... she put my receipts in the receipt book where they belong... (they were next to it and I just hadn't done it, it was also on my messy desk)...

Some people say I should be upset but honestly, I really like it. I went to my room and it was TOTALLY clean (and no, nothing missing) including vacuuming and tidying and wiping and SHE CLEANED THE GLASS ON MY PAINTINGS!

But I didn't ask her to do any of this and I kinda feel really bad she's cleaning my catbox! Like, isn't that under 99.99% of circumstances supposed to be my job?

But omg... my house is so clean

Um that's what maids do. Even if there is a cat box. There was a dirty sink and dirty cat box and if you had no specified to clean either that's what they do clean...and its part of the cleaning process. $20/hr is damn good money to clean houses imo. Why would some people say you should be upset?

She did her job very well and you are happy with the outcome.

Shoot if I ever got into a bungle and couldn't dance I'd clean houses.

Nope. I have a cleaner who comes in twice a week at $20 per hour but this is in Australia. She's happy, does not cook but irons, cleans everything and does the job twice as well as I ever could and in half the time.

Called my folks and said I found the missing piece in my life.... ....the cleaner.

Yeah $20 an hour is average wage in Australia so I'm only paying her fairly.

I wasn't aware maids DID catboxes!!!

Someone said I should be upset because cleaning the hair from my brushes is a 'weird'.

Someone is telling u u should be upset when u clearly are not?? Hmmmm i think the obvious answer is that if u are comfortable with the fact that she is a thorough house cleaner then u should be happy

I wouldn't feel bad, I would feel ecstatic! She sounds like the best cleaner in the world to me, if she ever decides to move to the UK let me know.

I know some people would feel a bit weird about her cleaning brushes as that seems a bit personal but it wouldn't bother me as long as she wasn't going through my drawers.

I wish I could find a cleaner to clean the litter boxes.

I gave her an extra hour pay. I don't think she understood, she speaks very bad English. Ah well!

Yeah when she was cleaning the catbox I was like...Oh! Do I ask her to stop or let her do it?! Because I would've SWORN cleaners didn't do that kind of thing.

BUT OH MY G-D! She made my bed and organized everything (but not in the drawers, she left them organized on the table by type for me to put away)... she vacuumed... she even reorganized and cleaned under the bed (now I think she knows I'm a stripper!)...

    Hahaha...

She also cooks... I hope she cooks as good as she cleans.

The strippers have spoken!!! I will not feel bad!

Well she said she'd also cook if I wanted her too.. haven't yet!

I swear I wasn't bragging philly. I thought it was great but I was worried I was expecting her to do too much with the catboxes and stuff!

I already felt shitty askin' her to do my dishes so the catbox was like a

She also organized my rubber ducks by colour and type.

I can't believe I found her on a gumtree (aussie craigslist) ad and she's only 22!

Sounds like you found a great maid! I'd only feel bad if I weren't recompensing her properly.

For some reason I was under the impression that maids didn't do that kind of thing and that it was even rude to ask.

That's her job, don't feel bad!

I know it feels weird sometimes to be doted on, but hey, you are paying her to do a job and she's doing it awesome! She sounds great!

    Apparently not...

I just thought, yannow, that catboxes hairbrushes and dishes and things were those chores that cleaners got all horrified if you even asked them to do.
