My immune system is horrible, and I catch things easily. How do you girls stay healthy while working around all kinds of people who possibly have colds?

Besides the obvious washing my hands, and using the sanitizer before and after stage and counting money, I don't share ANYTHING with other girls (drinks, makeup, outfits, stuff that I can use again; but stuff like baby wipes and hairspray is fine).
I also eat a table spoon full of fresh organic honey every day, plus a table spoon of yogurt, and drink tons of water and eat healthy.
You can also try eating foods that boost your immune system, like zinc, lean red meat, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, green or black tea, garlic, guava (or other high vit c fruits), broccoli, blueberries, flax, salmon, tomatoes, and spinach are all great for helping to boost your immune system.

I have asthma and, because of that, I get respiratory illness quite easily. It doesn't help that the clubs are smoke filled on top of everything else.
On top of trying to eat right, I also take vitamin C pills every day.
Vitamin C mega doses (5grammes or more daily), colloidal silver, healthy eating and various other alternative therapys. Havent been sick for more than a day for the last almost 17 years now except for a couple of occasions when i didnt use any of the above or properly :-)

i take an immune booster vitamin, it has vitamins a,c, and e....eat healthy, drink water, exercise, and always wash your hands

grapefruitseed extract is supposed to be effective too. I haven't been sick an awhile. I'm not sure what to attribute it to. The grapefruitseed extract? the water? No idea.
But I get sick when I get dehydrated. I get sick quickly if I'm dehydrated and then go into a smoky environment or stay up too late.

I started taking Alpha Sun in March 2007. I haven't been sick once since, not a cold or sore throat, nothing. I love the way it makes me feel and it gives a healthy glow to my pale skin.

My immune system always seems to crap out during times I'm drinking frequently.
I take a multivitamin every morning and an iron pill because I'm anemic. I drink lots of water and juice and try to get as much sleep as possible.
before you point the finger make sure your hands are clean
Vitamin C 1000mg with rosehips once daily with a meal.

i work both at the club and a school.. tons of germs. i drink a ton of water & eat healthy, work out, try to get enough but not too much sleep, and drink an emergen-c packet every day. i used to do a multivitamin but i hate taking pills & i take glucosamine and occasionally dexatrim so sometimes i just cant choke anything else down.

OOOohh I remember emercen-c from when I was younger, drinking some at a friends house after trudging through a snow storm.
WHere can I get that stuff?

i didnt know they made it that long ago? you can get it anywhere.. i get mine at target but its at any drug or grocery store.
I'm a vitamin FREAK, and I drink shitloads of water, and I'm really careful at work...and I still get sick all of the fuckin' time. So good luck to ya.![]()

I don't get sick much but when I feel that tingle of a cold coming on, I take Airborne. Works like a charm

I am sickly by nature. Freshman year of college, I was living in the dorms - 80 students per floor, everyone marinating in each other's germs - and I started getting sick literally every two weeks or less. What changed it was when I started exercising several times a week and making sure to eat lots of fruits and vegetables instead of having pizza at every meal. I hardly ever got sick after that.
So that's what I do now. Try to eat two servings of fruit and at least two of vegetables a day. Also, not getting enough protein can kill your energy and your immune system - you should be getting at least 50-60 grams per day, more if you're working out.
And lots of water, like everyone else says.

I hardly ever bother to wash anything until after I get home from work, and I don't usually seem to get sick. I do, however, get a lot of comments about the giant pitcher of water I drink from constantly!
Enough sleep is also hella important.
vitamin C 4 grams a day (when I remember, which is every day to every two days.)
oregano oil pills when I feel something coming on (which is rare nowadays)
oil pulling when I start to feel a little funky
MSM and glucosamine for my muscles and joints-- because if those are strained it will strain your immune system.
same with chiropractor-- I go once a week, once every other week.
I used to get sick every two to three weeks. Now I get sick (maybe) every four months and I don't stay sick as long or as bad.

OPC-3. Works wonders for me.

Honestly, I just try to keep my stress low, get plenty of sleep (super important), and if possible, avoid the sick folks (like if i see they have a cold, i stay away from them).
you're going to be around sick people without knowing it, but, if you avoid contact with their hands (i almost never touch someone else hand) and wash your hands a lot, you can avoid a fair amount.
