    Default Picking songs?

I'm totally confused with the whole thing with picking songs to dance to on stage...Like, will the dj be able to play any song, or he only has certain songs in his "collection" or w/e? I hope I make a little bit of sense

Depends on your club. I usually bring my own CD but if you aren't picky, the DJ should have lots of music.

I used to bring my own music. I was very obsessed with it and would pick out every round what I danced to. I rarely let other dancers use my music (unless I liked them). I threw a fit at one club when the dj was letting other girls dance to my music. At another club I walked out because you could only dance to their music and I hated their music (I prefer 80's-90's alternative, while the club was mostly dance pop).

When I started, I was too worried about being nervous to pick out my music (or even THINK about music). I just told the DJ, "just play something I'm not going to look stupid trying to dance to!".

He put on some Britney Spears, (think "Piece of Me", "Radar", "Lucky"). NOT something I would have normally picked.

However, I do think it fits my look and my style of dance. Now, it's "mine". Whenever I hear Britney, I know I'm up, and so does everyone else. Trust your DJ, I would guess that most of them have been doing this a very long time and are usually pretty good about matching music to the dancer.

yeah, it depends on the club and manager(s). some clubs won't play certain types of rap or hip-hop for instance and some aren't fond of the more gothic type of alternative... etc..

AS the others have said, it depends on the club. I worked at one in Myrtle that gave me three options, rock, country or southern rock. That's it.

Most clubs will play to the clientelle. The above worked at the club, it was a red neck bar during bike week. They had a feature that showed up and danced to top forty hip hop, everyone just looked at her like she was nuts, it just didn't go over well with the crowd.

See what the club caters to, if what you want is in their play list you shouldn't have a problem.
