Mother "couldn't take the complaining anymore"
Shit, my youngest (he's 10) LOVES Guitar Hero! Guess I'd better stress education...

That is hilarious. i mean, i know it's not but when i read the title i couldnt help but laugh. maybe he thinks he will be a guitar hero rockstar and make so much money that he wont have to work.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I bet he plays the south park GH eppie continuously on a satilite screen. People are so silly, ahah
more power to him

some people actually -do- make a great living being professional gamers. i suspect that number will only grow, although of course it will still be "rare". it's no different than trying to pursue a career in acting, music, anything else risky.
i mean, sure he should have stayed in HS, but at least he's determined and motivated. most of the kids who drop out have neither of those qualities.
ALSO:
i am fantastic at guitar hero.

Good for him. The world needs ditch-diggers too.
That's just insane. I can't imagine parents that just 'cannot take his complaining anymore'. They should have never made such a stupid comment. It should have been something closer to "We want our kids to follow their dreams and we'll support them anyway possible..." hehe

Let's hope this game stays popular. Forever.

<-- wishes Dance Dance Revolution could be profitable too.![]()

"In life, we DO a lot in order to accomplish mundane trivial things before we die, but it is in death and after death in memories that we will truly live, because it is in the level of care and detail that a person paints of us with stories from their memories and experiences with us that give us meaning."
It is a pretty cool game.
I met a gamer in a stripclub that started writing his own videogames and made millions. Now if only I could make millions blogging about my crazy life as a stripper in las vegas... but people would only be willing to pay for the video.

That is fucking retarded.
I say this as a parent of three teenagers and as an avid gamer.
Re- Tard - Ed
I sure hope he's paying his own damn bills, keeping a roof over his own head, and feeding himself too if he's such a fucking grownup he doesn't need school anymore. Those parents fucked up when he was a baby and this was the inevitable result of no parenting.
What about the career of Gamer (Specializing in playing fake guitar) is so demanding that it requires quitting school to compete?

Horrible parenting. Disgusting. Enjoy your crappy future, kid.

Another press clipping:
"Peebles hopes to get to professional-level gaming, which can see competitors earn from $25,000 to $80,000 per year, although the figure is usually at the lower end and sponsorship opportunities are rare for competitors who coming in any lower than first place."
P.S. Do you believe that the popularity of virtual games like Guitar Hero will result in fewer kids learning to play "actual" instruments?![]()
Those parents are fucking stupid. My boyfriend's six year old nephew failed Kindergarden twice, yet is allowed to come home after school and play video games until bedtime. If I were his mother, that fucking Xbox would be thrown out the window and then ran over repeatedly with my car. That article makes me even more determined to ban video games from my house for my son. They are fucking useless and serve no educational value, I hope that kid's parents are proud. What idiots.
^^^ I agree entirely.
I have doubts about if anyone would even want to sponsor a drop out.
