Default I never want to wash my own hair again

Seriously im considering just going to the hairdressers a few times a week to have it washed and blow waved. I cant stand doing it myself. It's so long with the extentions that it takes me forever to blow dry it and it looks shit anyway coz I am not good at blow waving.

    does anyone do this?

If you've got the money to spare, I don't see why not! It's always nice to get pampered and have someone else to it, especially when it's a pretty big hassle due to the length and extensions.

I used to do that all the time, but not anymore...I don't have the time to go to the salon during school and I go out all the time.

    But yeah.. Go for it!

I did this when i had extentions 6 years ago for a short period of time and it just got to be a huge hassle.

The time driving to and from the appointment, the way they pull your hair with the round brush, some of the attitudes, scheduling.. blah

It was too much effort so I just grew out my natural hair that looks much better then the great lengths ever did.

I don't have extentions so I don't really know what it's like, but I do have very long, very thick (but also fine so it tangles super easily, if that makes sense!) naturally wavy hair. I never blow dry my hair, it gets too tangly and takes too much time, I always let it air dry overnight, brush it out, then style it. The amount of time it takes to straighten drives me nuts, I hate it.

That said, it's also bleached to high heaven, so going to the salon a few times a week and having it blowdried, pulled on, and straightened would completely wreck it. The fact that it's summer and hotter than 105+ everyday would also make it pretty pointless, my hair gets yucky, fluffy, and sweaty if I have to be outside for more than 2 minutes.

If the damage to your hair isn't any more than what you're inflicting at home, and the weather and your budget permit, I'd say totally go for it. Find a good stylist you like and have regular appt. times so there's no scheduling hassle.

I wish I could do this. I hate HATE hate blow drying my hair. I always get hot and frustrated.

Yesterday, for some reason, my hair dried quickly and beautifully so I didn't get sweaty. I was amazed.

^ have you tried blow drying in a place besides your bathroom? If you blowdry in the bedroom or somewhere big all that hot air can't accumulate... or shouldn't-- depends on how much you need a mirror-- though you could probably set one up in a different room.

I've tried it all. lol. We don't have central air so that's a HUGE part of the problem. If I turn the AC on in the bedroom and close the door..... it MIGHT be cold enough in there when I go to blow dry my hair.

The ONLY problem with doing it in the bedroom is I use the mirror on the closet door (it's nailed to the inside). When the closet door is open, major heat radiates out of there. Our apartment has horrible insulation.

ETA: I just heated up a sandwich in the oven and I'm sweating just from the oven being on. Half the time we blow the pilot light out and turn off the gas if we aren't going to use the stove because the heat is unreal.

(sorry for the thread jack. I'll stop bitching now)

My mom has done this my whole life actually....

She has very coarse thick hair (like mine) so she goes in once a week and can totally get away with it.

She probably spends like 40/bucks a week doing this, but its worth it to her and that really isn't that helaciously expensive....

Well my friend has his own salon and has offered to do it for $30 each time (which is very cheap where I live. It usually costs me $50 or more). So Im thinking I might go twice a week.
If it gets done at the hairdresser the blow wave lasts me about 3 days anyway. If I do it myself it just looks shit and needs to be washed sooner.

MS Querty your hair would take forever!! How often do u wash it?? How long does it take to dry????

When I lived in Asia I never washed my hair. But then again, it cost like $2-5, and there was a salon on every block.

Some of the clubs I've worked in have had hairdressers, and I usually get them to do my hair for $20 at work.

I always go to a salon for a special occation, because it just looks so good, but I just dont have the time to go all the time. When I marry well and become a lady of leisure though, having my own personal hairdresser is on the top of my list.

I would do it if I had extensions. I had a sew in....big huge and curly that i washed EVERY NIGHT at 3am b/c i couldnt stand to sleep smelling like smoke. but that go to be a pain, and the hair messed up quickly.
Isnt there some kind of spray to wash hair, or wipes, to rid hair of smoke? with my real hair i dont wash it everyday after work, but with weave it really holds funk!

A girl I used to work with went to the salon every day before work to get her hair straightened.
She had extensions, and they're such a pain to do yourself. I'm thinking about doing this too.
