I have to admit, i am excited to see the name.

I loved that she named her son Kingston.
I miss chola Gwen but hey, people move on. I hope she'll re-unite No Doubt after she gets this new kid out of diapers.

Right, but I'm sure she had the first one planned as well. These Hollywood types have an inordinate number of c-sections. I find it hard to believe they are all medically necessary.
But it's her body and her business. I just don't understand why abdominal surgery is preferable to a normal birth. Up and about in a day, or a couple of weeks? Huge scar or no scar? There's no contest, IMO, but people are gonna do what they want.
Check out my new eBay auctions.......
A friend of mine had a c-section a couple weeks ago. She's pretty small-framed and after she was a day or so late, they decided to induce labor. Makes sense in a lot of cases I think.

but wasn't her pregnancy super late?
maybe she just wanted to get it over with!
Hell yes! From the opposite end of birth options from the planned elective c-section, righteous babe Ani DiFranco had a home birth recently. Check it out!
As for whether a prior c-section automatically means you're forever resigned to surgery for subsequent births, this is definitely debatable. There's a lot of support out there for those who seek VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), and they point out that there are significant risks in repeating the surgery, including dangerous placental abnormalities (increta, percreta and so forth) which increase with each operation.
Obviously it can be a life-saving operation when truly necessary, and thank the gods for it, but I worry about the celebrity trend of purely elective, non-medical cesareans. I'm all about personal choice, too, though, so, hmmmm.

Yay its about time...natural or not, she looked like she was about to pop!!!!
I luv''''zzzzz me some Gwen....
And the name Kingston so cute!!!!!!!!!
Ooooh man can I include she is the luckiest woman ever to have Gavin knock her up---LOOL
Glad you chimed in RW! Since Ani and I are living in the same area, it's very likely that I'm going to have the same midwife as her if I get knocked up again.
I agree that there are far too many elective c-sections. And even more are pushed by doctors. "Small frame" and "past the due date" are really not medical necessities. Honestly, it's better for everyone involved to just have the regular birth as long as there are no emergencies to necessitate surgery.
I could go on about my advocacies for natural birth but I won't!
Congrats to Mrs. Rossdale! I can't wait to see pics.

i'm such a longtime gwen fan and this makes me happy!
i wish she would have had a girl... and i don't really like the name, it makes me think of cranium (zooma, lol) but good for her![]()
i do believe no doubt is making a new album kiddos.
I think zuma is cute! I wish she would have left out rock though, haha

it sounds like a name from a francesca lia block book.

zuma just reminds me of zuma dogg, and that cannot be a good thing. that is a flagrant abuse of youtube and city hall if ever i saw it.
meanwhile, re: the c-sec thing... i thank the lord for mine -- mind you i tried for 25 hours the other way and i swear i would've cracked the head of the ob if she had've tried to suggest otherwise.
if i was ever to decide again i'd go straight for the C... then again, i had an enormous kid, and fuck pushing that out the nethers.
both ways are gross and painful. i don't know what's worse, watching a c-sec on youtube or watching a 'real' labour. bleh and bleh.
love gwen. not so big on zuma.
