    Default Allergic to alcohol....??

    Hey everybody,

Si I plan to dance soon and I have read various threads about customers buying drinks for the dancers. Well I don't drink because I am ALLERGIC...lol. What is the best approach with this..should I just ask for a cranberry juice..lol! Its seriously horrible enough when I go to a nightclub and people ask why i don't drink or want a drink...then I have to explain..blah blah..blah..but then they think its a cute thing..Sorry if it sounds like a weird question. Any input is appreciated!

I either let the bartender know to make me fake drinks or I simply order a water if it's going to be a pain in the ass to get fake drinks without it being obvious to the customers. People will ask why you aren't drinking, but most won't get all pissy about it.

Whenever I don't want a drink and custies ask why not, I tell them I just took allergy meds and I would love to have a drink, but I can't mix the Claritin with alcohol. No one's ever tried to argue with that.

Do a search for the drinking-related threads...there are a ton of excuses floating around SW.

I don't drink alcohol and I always order a Shirley Temple. Most customers think it's cute . The rare time a customer has a problem with it, I find disturbing they don't want to buy me a drink out of courtesy but specifically want alcohol in me.

I don't drink either. I have had a history of alcohol abuse, and it's just better for me to not play with fire. I will order a Coke, but if keep pushing, I tell them I have been sober 8 months and "thank you for respecting that". Any guy who continues to push after hearing THAT is fucked up....

I would come up with a fake drink and tell the bar staff about it. That way no other dancer will say it's fake and you don't have to hear endless pleads to have a shot. If someone orders you a shot then I'd tell them I'm allergic to anything but (some obscure alcohol that the club has, not patron obviously, ahah). If they starts saying well what about this and that, then tell them you are really not sure sense you haven't had it but you'd rather continue having a great night drinking what you KNOW you're not allergic to, than risking getting severe headache/ not being able to breath....blah blah.

I've you don't know any of the bar staff I'd would just order water, or introduce yourself, tell them whats up and tip them well.

Just tell the bartender that want fake drinks...I can't really relate because I'm a drinker, but make sure every bartender knows on your shift that you can't drink. About the shots, well this is just an idea. If I'm a little tipsy and I know that shouldn't drink anymore, the barmaid will give me a shot of water...lol. That way no one knows because all clear liquor and water usually looks the same.

Yep..Ive done "lemon drop" shots that were water with a lemon slice on it! And I drank fake vodka cranberries for hours one night with this guy who started ordering me(and paying for!) DOUBLES(which the bartender giggled about giving me mostly water with a splash of cranberry!) because he couldnt believe I wasnt getting as drunk as he was!! I just told him I'm Irish and have been working in bars for years so I can hold my liquor REALLY well!!LOL

But yeah..there are a million excuses you can give for not drinking. If a guys pushes it or complains...he's prob going to be a PIA guy who wants a drunk stripper because he thinks he'll be able to get away with more with her.

I am straight edge: no drugs, no cigs, no alcohol. We always have a list behind our bar that says how many drinks each girl has had ordered for her. The ones that require a fake drink are highlighted, so I always always always highlight my name before I start my shift. However, sometimes the bartenders slip up and in the rush of things, pour me an alcoholic beverage.

Before you drink it, smell it. If it smells like it has alcohol in it, make a foul face, laugh a little to yourself, and tell the guy that the bartender gave you the wrong drink. Go up the the bar, by yourself, and tell the bartender that you cant drink alcohol. Usually, they are very good about replacing the beverage with a fakie. Also, make sure that each and every bartender knows. If you want to, alert the management that you can't drink, so they will alert any new bartenders.

Oh my gosh..thank you everyone for all the great tips!!! To BirdofEden...well this is what happens when i drink...I usually like midori sours or amaretto sours..but its seriously a waste because after the first sip..i start feeling hot...my face turns red..then if i continue to drink more..my heart starts to race and then i swear i can literally hear my heart beating..like paranoia or something...then I break out in red splotches all over...i usually dont ever go farther than that. One time I did because my boyfriend wanted me to have a shot of buttery nipple for his birthday...so after a fews sips of my own drink plus the shot...I started shaking...I made a trip to the bathroom and then i was okay..but I think if i drank any farther i could end up in the hospital. Im a a nurse and a doctor overheard me talking about it and said it is called "ethanol dehydrogenase defieciency" basically lacking the enzyme to break down alcohol...lol..so there's a new fact for you!

i think telling them you are allergic would make for an interesting coversation starter, so why not tell them and order a soda instead or some water.

plus you can always say that you dont need to drink to have fun your a horny girl without it, lol.
