They are usually cool about it if you say you have to drive soon.

I used to never refuse and drink and do what GCG does. I used to just leave it behind after the private dance was finished. However now I've found they dont even seem to care if Im not drinking and they still want the dance.
I don't try to act intoxicated either, I'm not into that approach. I don't do ditzy either, I just pretty much act like me at work except a bit friendlier, actually a lot friendlier LOL.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

Also, ordering a "top shelf" spirit is a good tester for the customer iMO. If he unflinchingly will pay for it, then sell him VIP. If he does flinch, then order a 'standard' spirit yet don't get your hopes up that you will sell him a lot of dances.

Plus I used to do that with red wine. Get a customer to buy me a glass and sit on it ALL night (because it is meant to be sipped and had at room temp)... plus red wine (one glass a day) is good for you.......

I have a hard time sipping alcohol because of my initial nervousness lol. I "try" to sip it and in like 5 minutes I look down and am like, "shiiit..." So I am going to just try ordering a red bull or something like that if they ask me for a drink. Otherwise I'll probably just end up drinking again.

i think im going to try and quit drinking on the weekends. although it is hard when you are sitting with a group of guys that are in party mode and they want you to do shots or have a beer. i find if i have a couple of drinks then switch to water for the rest of the night i also feel alot better

I used to binge drink and in all reality I did make money, I just ended up losing it half the time or buying rounds for random people. That and the next day at work was always excruciating.

I drink only in CR now and make more than I ever have. I think way more clearly, plan my night out better, set goals and get motivated to get out there as opposed to sitting with a customer or at the bar half the night.

i stopped drinking at work and i'm way more focused. instead of dwelling on the lack of money i'm making, i get back on the floor and hustle. i'm also a lot more aware of my 'surroundings' and can actually work on improving my hustle because i can remember everything much much easier, even simple things like names. i'm def not lazy and look at as a job when sober where i have to make the most money possible.

Sometimes I'd give anything to have a couple drinks at work to loosen me up...but I am grateful that I learned to work sober, because I know some girls who had to get drunk to get on the stage for their audition, and then never felt capable of doing it sober.

Yay for not drinking on the job!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 18, so thats a great excuse when guys ask to buy me a drink...i tell them i don't want to get in trouble. And i have been bought juice before.

I don't trust myself drunk in that type of work enviroment. Not just scared of what could happpen between me and the customers....but mostly trusting my shit around the girls and stuff. I heard alot of stories of girls getting robbed and what not while tipsy or close to drunk. Alot easier for someone else to slip something out of your purse.

One of the things I am looking forward to is Abq's rule about dancers not drinking at work. Most of the clubs I have worked at in other areas have been topless booze clubs and customers seem to think you're up to something if you refuse drinks. It's so bad that you almost HAVE to drink as part of the job.

It's sure going to be nice to not have that pressure when I start working around here

so yay!!! for me last night. i went into work at 430 but i work nightshift so although i went in early, unless there were a good amount of girls i would of had to stay until 330. i only had a few beers, yes i love beer, in the beginning of the evening and after that switched to water. i decided not to drink anymore unless of course i got a champagne room because i llllooovvveeee moet, and i so got a champagne room at like midnight. i made great money because i was more focused on work then getting a buzz:-)

"Up to something", if you aren't drinking? That's pretty ridiculous. I don't understand why people have such a hard time believing that there are dancers out there who DON'T have to drink (or want to drink) at work! Arrgh!

I stopped drinking for a few days and felt so much better even after just a few days. I guess I didn't realize just how much I have been drinking lately! I slipped up and got pretty buzzed last night, but that wasn't at work, so I guess I didn't screw up my goal. I actually haven't been to work since I've tried to stop drinking; I figured I'd slip up if I didn't take some time off to sober up. (I can't believe I slipped up last night, but I'm just trying not to beat myself up for it.) So today I'm going to try my damnedest to stay sober! Even if it means being all awkward. I wish that like some here I would have just stayed sober the first few months I started working so I didn't feel the "need" to get drunk to work.

Actually looking back on it I did WAY better in the beginning because I only allowed myself one drink per hour, and then cut myself off around midnight or 1am. That way I almost never got a buzz but was able to manage my social awkwardness... However now that my tolerance is so high I don't think that would even have any affect.
