Default symptoms of adhd in adults and aniety seem the same?

ive been reading up on adhd in adults, and its crazy how the symptoms are almost the same compared to GAD and SAD.

im starting to wonder if maybe i was misdiagnosed.

has anyone tried both anxiety meds and adhd meds? which worked out for you?

its funny on the website for aderall it says people with anxiety shoudlnt take it, but one of the symptoms of adhd is anxiety, lol.

    so confusing.

    any personal experiances appreciated.

I had a friend who took anti-anxiety meds for years, they made her feel like shit and she swore they all made her more anxious.
She found a new doc who told her she'd been misdiagnosed. He said she probably had adult adhd and put her on Adderal.
She says she feels like a different person! She's so much better now, it's crazy.
After hearing her story I recommend most people get a second opinion (no matter the condition or diagnoses) If you are gonna be on meds, it's better to be sure it's for the right thing!

I have adhd, I started Ritalin when I was around 12 and I just recently switched to Adderall. I'm not able to spend a day without it. Weird though, because now that I think about it, I have a lot less anxiety when Im on my meds.

I have ADHD and Borderline Personality Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder.

I have found that Prozac works super frigin awesome for me. Prozac is hit or miss for some people, but since my family has a history of extremely successful trials of prozac, the doc put me on it and it seems to work really really really well.

By really really well, I mean that it doesnt make me anxious, which, in turn, has a very soothing effect on me, which helps calm my adhd. it also helps me feel more happy and relaxed.

i have horrible anxiety, and adderall is NOT good for me. legal cocaine, i'm telling you. that's how it feels. it was the worst feeling in the WORLD when it started to wear off after i took one once.

i honestly think that the adderall wearing off may have been worse than coming down off coke. but this was a long time ago and i just remember how bad it felt.. i had never DONE coke then so i guess its hard to compare.

i think that adderall will probably give the coming -down from coke effect if someone who DOESNT have adhd takes it...

I have adhd, and have used adderall made me crazy emotional- but it has been a long time ago, and I was taking a friend's meds. I've had no luck with Ritalin, which I was prescribed. BUT you might react differently to Adderall, it's worth a try. I'd start out on a low dose, of course...

What symptoms do they share? I don't know much about anxiety disorders... although I have panic attacks sometimes.

I say it's all diag-nonsense....they just want to put you in boxes to give you drugs- cognitive behavioral therapy can and does cure GAD, SAD, ADHD and ADD............this is coming from the offspring of a shrink.

also- borderline personality disorder is one of the most misdiagnosed "disorders" due to the fact that its characteristics are extremely common in teenagers and young adults in their 20's.

I do know that it IS commonly misdiagnosed, however, I believe that I am NOT misdiagnosed. I do know that the bipolar I was diagnosed with was a misdiagnosis, since my mood swings were hourly, sometimes even changed from one minute to the next. Just sayin'.

This one's tricky. Depression, ADHD, anxiety, and various sleeping disorders all have a number of overlapping symptoms. Were you diagnosed by your GP? If so, do you have access to a specialist?

Not taking my ADHD (Adderall) meds for a few days and then starting them again gives me anxiety something awful. Like, the world is ending the sky is falling type anxiety. I think I posted about it once because it was so bad that I felt there was no way possible I was the only one dealing with it. If I take my Adderall like I should (mostly, I won't take the full dose because I think it's too much) and don't take any 'holidays' my anxiety isn't as bad. It's still there, but not nearly as horrible. If I take a few days off, like 2 or more, getting back on it is an awful feeling. I'm not sure why.

Have you tried Cymbalta? It sounds like you may just have the anxiety; reasoning for this is the past cocaine use. (provided you found it pleasing, euphoric etc..) In general cocaine affects people with ADD a lot like the attention medications Ritalin and Adderall; it allows the person to focus on the task at hand without the appetite loss, insomnia and euphoria the drug causes for the general population without ADD.

I have SAD, and for it I was put on Xanax. I did my own research before going to my doctor, and specifically said that I did NOT want to be on a daily medication. My anxiety mainly happens at work, so it's either drink enough or take a xanax before I go in.
