    Default Moving and Donating

I am moving all week and Ive put ads up on CL for awhile now attempting to sell and give things away. Everyone has flaked on me!

I actually found a division of Salvation Army that does pick ups so I'm now going that route. I don't know if they are going to take most of this stuff..

I'm donating antiques for the most part but ones that can be used (dressers, vanity). I could get a lot for these items but honestly, I know there are people out there that would cherish them and would appreciate them more than some stuffy antique dealer.

My question is, I have a full sized bed that I'm not taking with me. However, the box springs are trashed (like holes etc) while usable I don't feel right attempting to donate..could I just donate the mattress you think?

I'm also having a bad time getting rid of a perfectly good kitchen table and 4 chairs with NOTHING wrong with it! I may just donate it as well.

If anyone in the chicago land area wants to buy a damn kitchen table and chairs let me know lol

I've tried free cycle too btw and it's a yahoo group?! Ugh.

There are a number of consignment shops in the city. Time Well on Lincoln is one, and there are a bunch on Diversy or Belmont. They can really take the pain out of getting rid of stuff that has value, but that you don't want to mess with.

I honestly don't have time to invest in selling this stuff. I'm moving all this week. I'd rather it went to use and the money is secondary. It's just a pain in the ass to get people to actually show up off of Craigslist.

Hell, if you lived in Utah, I'd totally take that table and chairs off your hands!

I'm sure you can probably just donate the mattress without the box springs. Other than that, good luck with the move!

Don't forget to get a receipt for your donation! You may not get money, but you can still get a tax deduction for the value of your donated goods. And that's money in your pocket next year!
