I dunno. I actually think if strip clubs actually paid their people like professionals, they'd be more likely to attract... you know, professionals. When you pay your people crap, give them crap working conditions and tell them that their main job is to extort other workers... big surprise what you end up with, right? And I personally don't want them to do more. I want them to play the music I give them to play and to leave me alone.

Ah yes, support staff that thinks we should be grateful/also give them more money/our job is soo easy. SO annoying. I'm sure this is bitchy, but i only tip the minimum to dj and other staff unless they specifically do something EXTRA for me that results in me making more money.
Here's a good example- a lap dance is a set price just like the dj tipout. If someone tips me extra for a dance I'm happy, but I don't complain if I don't get a tip on top of what the dance costs (even if I tried nicely to get one). That's what the dance costs-anything else is EXTRA and not required, just like an EXTRA tip for the dj.

Oh yeah and there have def. been some saturdays where I've had a bad night and I know the dj is making more than me at 15 dollars a girl per 30 girls-450 at least, not counting extra tips some of the girls give.

also...he's a DJ. He sits in a booth and clicks buttons to play music and talks on a microphone. His job requires the physical activity and emotional drainage of a desk job. He's not naked in front of strangers being subjected to assholes all night.

but yeah.... everyone should be grateful for everything they have, that's how you open the door to abundance......but him saying you were ungrateful reflects on him that perhaps he is ungrateful.

and txchick, you are totally right that sometimes the housemom, dj and bouncers make more, and that is wrong because NO ONE should make more money than the dancers!

If he is usually a good dj he was probably just having a bad night and took it out on the two of you. Not to say it was ok to do so but I think we have all had our moments like that before.

Having said that most dj's in my experience are not all that great and seriously take us dancers for granted considering many of them make their living off what we pay them. That bothers me the most about support staff in general. WE are their bread and butter yet most show us little to no respect. Grrrr!!!!

And yes they do usually make more than we do on a regular basis. I won't into whose job is tougher because they are very different jobs and both can either be done very well or very poor depending on the time and effort involved.

I agree 100% with you on that - they should pay better wages! But if that happens, then theres no reason we should owe them big tips.

With the way our economy is and money becoming more hit or miss... why should their income be more financially stable (via tip outs) at our expense, literally - when that $20 or so is becoming more and more of a big deal to dancers?

Maybe your experiences differ from mine, but I've worked with one too many dj's who think you 'owe them' big, extra $$$ just for playing a song you requested - as if that isn't what they're there for in the first place. I've met assholes who disregard MY song preferences in favor of what they *think* I should be dancing to (aka stuff I'd never pick out), ones who won't play songs just because THEY don't like them, etc. etc. And these guys expect $$$ outta me?

It just pisses me off when I see tons of girls struggling to make those tip outs or else.

Seriously, housemoms are the most useless thing on earth. I will never see the value in tipping some fat bitchy hag to sit on her ass all night, doing nothing but giving the dancers a hard time and trying to stir up drama between the girls. I can bring a granola bar, tampons and whatever else I need for myself, thanks. My first club didn't have a housemom and somehow the club ran just fine. It was awesome to be able to take a break in the DR and re-group without some old bitch riding my ass about sitting down for five minutes.
I work at a large club with tons of girls, so in our case I think housemoms are justified. At my club they're constantly cleaning the dressing room (girls can be pigs!), doing laundry, they cook meals for us, mending costumes, etc. etc.

I think housemoms at smaller clubs are unnecessary though.

Exactly why I am sooooo glad that my home club doesn't have a housemom. I see no point in having one at all, my club has about 60 girls working a night and we do just fine without one, thank you very much. Anytime I've worked at a club that has one, it has never been a positive experience.

I work in large clubs, and still I've never seen a useful housemom. I just think they're unnecessary period.

the only time i liked having one was at the very first club i danced at and didnt know any better. she was a hateful bitch, too. she started drama and played girls against each other and thought she was somehow better than us.. though she had dropped out of high school at 15 to strip.

doing laundry? i can do my own, thanks, and wouldnt want somebody else messing with my stuff. cooking for me? again.. i can do that myself. i dont care how many girls are there i just dont see the point.

I guess I just lucked out, I really like the housemoms at my club. But I still think it's bullshit that they're pretty much guaranteed to make more $ than most of our dancers average : /.

Our day housemom is pretty good. Granted, she does "overdo" it times - carrying bags, handing us towels, gum, checking in w/ us 20 times a shift....but at least she's trying to EARN the tipout, not just sit on her ass and expect it. I love our daytime housemom

^ Thats what I've noticed about our moms too. They make sure the girls know when they're due to go on stage again (our dj's shuffle rotation order a lot), constantly tidy up the dressing room cuz most girls just don't do it themselves, bring homecooked meals, etc. etc. And they aren't drama stirrers.

Lazy moms that pretty much get paid to sit in one spot all day and gossip though....... I'm glad I don't work with those!

^ i dont need someone telling me when to go on stage, though. at my club we HAVE no dj and we have a list and you have to know when its time for you to go up. i'd rather keep my money and do those things myself. to each their own, i guess.

I feel the same. I would rather save the $10 tip out to a housemom each night and bring my own tampons and shit. It just irritates me when someone who is staying fully clothed all night is making more than the strippers on some occasions.

I flipped and flopped on my answer on this but then I started to remember the average deejay was a fucking goof at best. I would put it at a 70 30 split... 30 percent for the deejays that were amazing and that were professional and excellent to work with and to this DAY I can name the sunnuvagunns, that were so awesome. In fact I am still friends with back here in the civilian world.

I remember their biggest bitch was ALWAYS money - and so many times I wanted to shove the microphone up their barking spiders.

Deejays have NO fucking idea what goes into that eventuality of us stepping out onto stage - from waxing shaving or electrolysis, tanning salons, creaming exfoliating, facials and hairdressers and all the hair products i.e. extensions and the like, manicures, pedicures, visits to the gym, eating healthy and watching our weight, breast jobs or lipo lifts tucks nips and enhancements of all shapes n sizes, costume purchases, long distance bills and or the actual travel to different provinces and or states, hotel rooms, shoes, boots, perfume & makeup costs, car rentals/leases, chiropracters and masseusses, pole lessons, injuries, BLAH BLAH F*CKING BLAH - I am sure many of you could add to this list!!!

We DONT always bank we have bad nights and we have excellent nights and we gotta average them out and add to them the above noted expenses and issues we deal with to actually go on stage.

I am so not concerned how many deejays that may read this and wanna tear me a new one - you guys cant f*ck with my shows anymore now HAHAHA!!!
So many times we bit our lip cuz we knew you could lower our volume, switch out a tune turn the lites on high or WHATEVER pathetic attempt at wrecking a girls show cuz YOU thought she didnt give you enough cash or you just didnt like her (real professional too yuh) -

It pisses me off we actually have to justify this to ANYONE.
