50 miles exactly. Takes me about an hour (I drive superslow AND to get there I have to drive up a mountain) To me its like my backyard, I used to drive 1:45 to philly!
I wish I was a fully outed stripper, that way I could work in my own town and just be 15 minutes from a club!! I will always be envious of you outed chicks
I live ten minutes or less from my club. I love getting home quick. On the way to work it actually takes me 2+ minutes because I come from my friends house who does my hair. I like to talk to someone on the phone or just listen to music and get ready in the car.
I do not miss the days of the long commute.
I HATE my commute. About 50 mins one way. I tried the club in my town and I hate it too much to ever work there. Moving closer isn't an option either, because the hubby has to be close to work (job requires it). Before we moved I drove for literally 4 mins, with traffic.

My husband and I have been looking at other areas of Dallas to move to (we are quite some distance up into the northern burbs'). I would KILL for a 10 minute commute *drool*.

41 miles, 50 minutes, $8 in gas round-trip. I miss Hawaii, where I had a bus pass and it was a 5 minute bus ride. So $200/year for all the trips I wanted.
4-12 minutes. Usually it's under ten minutes, but sometimes the traffic is really bad downtown.

i live about 15 miles away from my club so it takes me about 20 minutes...and the past 2 clubs i danced at for a long period of time were about 20 minutes also

Beginning Thursday, I'll be driving about 40 minutes.

I love the books on CD idea! I am going to pick one up tomorrow as a matter of fact, as I will be driving to the club 3 times this week (Wed/Thu/Fri), and that's close to 6 hours in the car! Any "book on CD" recommendations for an easy listen?

I had my brother read the second book in George R R Martin's Songs of Ice and Fire series. I had already read them once, so it made me concentrate while I was driving (because I was really into the story) and kept me awake.
In short, something with a story. I don't think self-help stuff would be very engaging. Mostly fiction, or maybe biographies...
20 miles one way so about 30 minutes, longer in the summer and fall because there has been roadwork in progress on the highway for about 3 years now. There's nothing that aggravates me more and puts me out of the mood to work than sitting in a construction zone for 45 min.![]()

I drive 30-40min without traffic. With traffic, it's worse, but I tend to just not go in if traffic is too bad (i.e. I'll get to work when i have to pay a crazy high house fee)

I am about 70 miles from my club and usually only dance on weekends. I typically stay overnight in the city I dance. Making that long ass drive at 2am more than once a week gets old...really fast. I like my club though...so it's worth the drive to me.

Actually, after talking to my brother (he's a huge history buff) I found out that plenty of NF books have a good story to them when they're well-written. So maybe you won't have to give up NF for driving.
Sorry, I'm a huge book addict, so I get all excited about other people reading. We should have a nerd emoticon![]()
'bout 50 minutes...I'm in Denton, how about you, txchick?

^^
I'm not quite that far north - but close (I'm in Denton County).

an hour drive to pittsburgh is NOT FUN!!

I have a 40 mile roundtrip everyday for work and i say its fairly worth it. Its near the airport so never completely dead...and I work night shifts to avoid the traffic.
Gas sucks big time it's so expensive in souther california.

I'm 30 miles fom the last (most regular) club I worked at. Took an hour and a half to get there (NYC in rush hour, yucky) but only 45 min at 4 am to get home.
I did work at flash in the city and it was a 25 min subway ride in and a 15 min cab ride home.

3 hours one way.
But, I drive up, work the 3 days, sleep in a cheapie motel, then drive back home. The motel I stay in is only 4 minutes from the club.

Half an hour now ( I live in the sticks) so it's not bad at all. When I was in college I lived half mile from the club and half mile from school. I got gas like once a month. Those were the days!
