    Sauna

Lately, thanks to my man feeling "under the weather" we both have been using the community's sauna (I live in a gated community).

I must admit that I'm becoming a little addicted. The few times we have done this I've slept like a baby plus my skin feels awesome. Plus I do overall as well.

I usually last until it reaches 60 degrees (celcius).

I won't use it by myself for safety reasons.

Anyone else use a sauna? What has been your experiences?

we had one in the building i used to live in. i was hooked for a time... but then i started noticing some of teh ghey boys in the building having little rendezvous down there and changed my plans (didn't wanna be walking in on that)

also - whether it's connected or not - i found i got ye olde thrush... maybe from the heat, who knows....

    otherwise, i loved it.

Um, I did get a little frisky with my man last night when we had a sauna together ...................... until I got too hot/sweaty so the last thing I wanted to keep doing was giving him a blow job! hahaha.

I'm only sitting down on my own towel and/or standing plus having a shower afterwards.... I'm hoping I don't get thrush. Has not happened yet.

As for if anyone else is having sex etc in the sauna, I would think the fact that we get it up to 60 degrees celcius would kill anything of that in there?

When I lived in Nimbin we had one funnily enough - it was great! We used to go jump into a cold water hole between sessions.
One day though I shall go visit my friends in Finland and do it the proper way with the extreme heat and rolls in the snow in between :-D
Its meant to be very good for you!

Actually, my man wanted to do this last night. Go straight from the sauna, jump into (what would be since the sun was down) cold pool and back into the sauna. I was against it as I always thought that the drastic change in temp is what causes people to become ill? So, um, ah... how does going from HOT to COLD to HOT benefit someone? How does it not make someone who is already ill, worse?

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I hadnt really thought about it to be honest, ive just always heard good things about it and that its really good for you and it does feel good, very invigorating as my mum and gran would say, lol. On one of the alternative asthma teatment forums i used to be on there was someone who swore that the hot / cold method cured their asthma and i remember people mentioning theyed used it for various other things too..

Theres some more info here, scroll to Thereputic Suana and Benefits:

The therapeutic sauna with hot cycle followed by a cold cycle brings the benefits of both, forces all the blood to flow gently and evenly outwards to the skin to cool off in the heat of the sauna, and then forces it to flow evenly inwards to protect and heat the vital organs of the body when suddenly cooled. With sauna, sections of the body with chronically deprived blood, increase supply and reduce oxidative stress. As the blood supply cycles into the organs and then out to the skin it acts like a pump bringing stored chemical toxins from remote areas of the body through the microcirculation to the skin to be removed in sweat. The skin of our bodies is in effect another eliminatory organ so even when other organs are compromised in chronic illnesses or contamination, the skin through sweating can rid the body of such chemicals and toxins. The parasympathetic system governs sweat glands secretion and is increased by sauna. Sweating is used to eliminate toxic metals, just as iron loss in sweat increases with exercise in athletes. It has been shown with drugs such as caffeine, that delayed metabolic (organ) clearance was offset by a sizeable elimination in (skin) sweat by sauna. Sweat tests have shown pharmaceutical drugs are eliminated in sweat, narcotics, alkaloids and barbiturates are eliminated in sweat, and elimination increased with heat. Sweat analysis is also used for diagnosis of some disease, toxic metal excretion in sweat is used in diagnosis of chronic disease the result of contamination, and sweating used to eliminate toxic metals. The beneficial effects of therapeutic sauna are both temporary and long term, some benefits will last about 24 hrs. Adaptation and detoxification will occur after longer use when the practice can be suspended or continued if beneficial.

I love Saunas!!!!!!! I'm so glad there is a thread about this. Btw, I thought saunas and steam rooms were the same thing?

I used to have a sauna in my old apartment building, those were the glory days. In the dead of a Bposton winter, my friends and I would bring incents and smoke ciggarettes in there and slowly strip away. Back when I used to smoke weed, we would hotbox that too! Lol, we were bad.

Sex in a sauna, well I can't say I have done it, its too hot for that. Although there was this one time, we had some oral fun but the sauna wasn't on, we were just in there for the hell of it.

I, too, have come across a couple of gay boys (three, actually,) "making use" of the co-ed sauna late at night at my 24 Hour Fitness. That was awkward.

We are still using the sauna. 60 degrees C is still my max before I run out and have a shower. I can .. maybe.. last 5 degrees more.. no more tho'! Every time I've been using it.. I've been having the best sleep!

So I don't know about what actual health benefits etc there are.. just that every time I use it.. and it's 7-8pm.. I have awesome sleep!
