    Default coconut oil and hair....

so I've known coconut oil was really good for your hair and scalp for some time now. the thing is, I'm not sure how to use it. do you just put it on and massage it in? how much do you use? how long do you leave it on for? is it okay to use on bleached hair? sorry if this has been asked before, but if you run a search on coconut oil. ten million threads come up. what's the best way to use this stuff on your hair? I have bleached hair and the ends are getting dry and frizzy. will this tame them?

I'm bumping this thread since I just bought a bunch of coconut oil and was curious as to how it's used in the hair.

    Here's how I do it...

First, I wet my hair (not wash, just wet) then squeeze out excess moisture. Apply about 3 tbsp coconut oil (I have medium length hair) to the ends. Then, with a wide toothed comb I comb from the bottom up, all the way to my scalp. Roll it up into a bun and go to bed! The next morning I shower as usual, but have to shampoo twice to get all the oil out.

If you apply the oil without wetting your hair it will just become heavy and saturated with oil. Wetting first allows the oil to trap the water into your hair follicles. This will prevent it from looking greasy or weighed down. Shiny and full of volume!

I personally only use the tiniest bit on my tippy ends at night daily.

Once a week I brush my hair like a billion times, then I section my hair and cover and totally saturate my hair in the oil, make 2 low side braids (Poccannoas (sp) style), and wrap my hair in a Turby Twist and sleep on it.

Wake up and use a good shampoo and conditioner and it's good for another week and looks great.
