I wear 'em all the time, I like 'em. There was a study that found that if you lengthen you legs by 5% above average, it's the most attractive- any more than that, and it declines slightly.
Ah, found it. http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/20...our.psychology
plus the lower heels let you move with a more fluid stride (IMO- there's a good chance I'm just platform heel-retarded). *shrug* anyway, I'm in favor of lower heels.

What is average legnth of leg?

i found 5 inch shoes very easy to walk around in, when i was in a mood to wear shoes (usually went with boots, including a classic and beloved 7 inch pair that died a brave death after many hard shifts).
they look cute without murdering your feet like the 90s-style stilettos (could never wear those without my feet going numb).
snaz has some very cute 5 inch fetishy heels, if you want a more low-key signal for kinky customers. also they just look very pretty.
I was a 7 incher but after taking a nasty spill at work and spraining my ankle when a strap broke I've moved down to the 5 inchers. I like them, I'm 5'6 without them so I don't really need super tall shoes anyway but I'm really happy and I feel much more secure in them.

I love my 5 inchers. I'm 5'8'' w/out heels and people still think I look like a GIANT on stage, LOL! The mainstage at my club has no pole, either, and the floors are wooden and very smoothe, so yeah... sturdiness is a must. I'm most likely going to buy 6 inchers later on... but for now with my club's slippery, pole-less mainstage... I'm very happy with my 5 inchers.

No floorwork at all? YIKES! WHY??? Over half of my mainstage performances are floorwork. I wouldn't know what to do with myself!
Yup, I wear them sometimes too. They don't cause me to over turn my ankles when I don't get a good footing like 6 inch platform. It's not so much the heel height that is my issue but the platform height that from time to time trips me up.
God....I just looked at that 5 inch shoe and thought "Wow....that heel is TINY!" hahahaha my shoe sense is so warped.
I've found 5 inchers have a greater slope in the archwise than 6 or 7 inchers, so I'm far more comfortable in those. Also, all the 5 inchers I've ever had have been pretty unsupportive compared to 6/7s.

5 inch shoes are okay but I think you will find them to be less comfortable. Viola is right, the angle at which the ball of your foot hits the platform is more steep... thus multiplying the pressure on a small area of your foot. It also fucks with my balance.
But who knows... some girls just love lower heels.
Give 'em a shot and let us know what you think.
Oh and P.S. RoseLeigh... since when does Rick's allow platform shoes????? Those motherfuckers made me go platformless for months!!!

I think mine are 5". I chose pretty small ones because I had never danced before. (We also have no pole, and no floorwork allowed).
Believe it or not, I come home and my feet do NOT hurt. I love them, and don't see why I would want to wear taller heels.
I can also move around pretty well IMO, without worrying about falling.

I call my 5-inchers my "drinkin' heels"(said with backwoods Appalachia accent), since I can totter around after having a few and not fall on my ass.
This becomes vastly funnier after the aforementioned drinks.
Also, with the lower heels, I feel like I'm at less risk of "falling off my shoes", where your platform tips and your ankle rolls? That always scares me, since I have a horror of breaking an ankle and being out of a job....

I've never worn 5" heels for work. the shortest I ever wore were 6" when I was a newbie. now I can't imagine wearing anything smaller than 7 1/2"

I just got some sexy, comfortable, 6 1/2 inchers from Pleaser. They are strappy with a high back that covers the heel. They are so comfy, i feel like I can almost run or 'trot' in them!
I was wearing 7 1/2 in. Jantes that I had forever because they were so light weight.
I'm also short at 5'2".

I do wear 5 inchers. also, but only boots. The platform is higher, and thicker socks make them more comfy.
I've only worn two pairs of 5 inch shoes. But it has been a long time, like two years. I tried on a pair that I used to wear. They are actually a 1/2 size smaller than what I usually take and I used to have to blow-dry the straps to get my feet in comfortably. They are delicate looking and really pretty, but damn, I have no idea how I endured dancing in those things.

I started off in 6inches now all I wear is five, I find them a lot more easier to dance in, I love them.

5 inch platforms are awesome! They are comfortable, easy to walk in and they still look great on stage. I find I can even get away with wearing out to every day events as well, they aren't over the top and still look sexy as hell.
Just make sure you buy high quality 5 inchers. These days you can find 5's at regular shoe stores that look like strippers heels. I worked with a girl that wore a pair to work though and the heel wasn't reinforced for dancing and snapped off.
