Personally, for me, South Florida really dragged me down and I'm from the North East as well and heading back in a few weeks. Money wise - I dunno how Boston money is exactly, but I always made better money up north and moved down to FL thinking the grass was greener.
I did community college for two years and plan on going to a regular college sometime soon to finish up my 4 years. Going to a community college saved me a lot of money and in the end, I'll still get the same degree. Of course though, it depends on what you are majoring in as well.
If you are worried about missing the "busy season" down here (I didn't really think there was one last year and doubt there will be one this year), could you fly down and stay with your mom during your breaks from school and just work then?

Personally I think Miami sucks ass. Too humid, too shallow in the nice areas and too violent in the rest. Boston on the other hand rocks except the super cold winter but if that doesn’t bother you I’d head back up there.
I love Boston. I like the combo of history and smart, savvy city environment. It’s great to be able to hop on the T and not have to drive. And its got much of the pros of NYC but without most of the cons. It’s cleaner, safer and not quite as pricey. If I could deal with the winters and M had work up there I’d move to Boston in a heartbeat.
As far as I am concerned the Euro trash types and wanna be celebs can keep South Beach![]()

^^^ She already said she's moving out on her own one way or another.
I find it so irritating when someone asks for help/advice and gets a useless, snide remark instead.

I never lived in Miami, but I did live in West Palm Beach for almost 3 years and I did hate it...i'm not a hot weather person, not to mention that hurricanes are not fun to be in either...
I would say get out of FL because while its a beautiful state to live in, its not all what its cracked up to be IMO...if I were you I would go back with your family...yeah school is expensive, but I'm sure you could get help from your family if you all are really close. Other than that, if you want to stay in FL, move out into your own place. I'm sure nobody likes to pay rent and bills but if you don't want to deal with your mom or anyone else, its the only way to go.
I would try up north if I were you. It sounds like that's where you want to be, but are just nervous about change.
go up north. get out of florida ASAP. florida sucks. there will probably be more money up north anyways, florida is doing horrible economy-wise.
"Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above."

^^^Waiting to get rid of nerves is pointless. No offense. It's just wasted effort because nervousness tends to get resolved by action. That said, just go. You know you really want to go, it's possible for you to go, so do it. You'll be nervous, and that's valid. Start looking for apartments, start applying for jobs, or reading up on clubs if that's your thing (I can't tell from your posts if you currently dance). I don't know how tuition at community college works (like, is there a difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition, like at public state universities?) but if CC is too expensive this winter, so be it. It likely won't get cheaper until you establish residency, and that can't happen until you move. So go! And best of luck to you![]()
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.
