Anyone jump rope for cardio? I've been searching for a decent cardio I can do at home and I keep coming across jumping rope. It does make you sweat!

Its so good but I hate it, I think I am just a wimp though, unless a trainer is making me I hide from the rope!!

I did it today! Apparently you burn 750 calories per HOUR! That's insane. I only managed to jump 100 times before dying (NOT in a row). It's pretty fun though. We need to get some Swers together to turn the rope for double dutch. And to remember some of those jumping rhymes.

I've been jump roping and I do about 300 turns I stop at 100 each set and catch my breath and its the best it does your body wonders try it for just 4 days adn tell me you don't see a difference...
I was just reading about jumping rope. In order for it to have a cardio effect, you should do it for 15 mins straight. That equals a 9 min mile; they even say if you mess up, start from zero. Its a great workout, I'm going to walmart to buy a jump rope tomorrow.

you can even do fake jump rope, just pretend you have one do the hand movelents and everything...thats what i do in my apt when i am bored haha....
I was all sorts of into jumping rope last winter when I was on my fitness kick (I'm, um, not on one at present). It was rad because I did so little of it per day (10-15 min. compared to an hour of jogging) and I saw results. It made me hot as hell, though, and unpleasantly lightheaded, but that's not the jump rope's fault. That's because I had to jump rope outside-- no room in the house-- and I live in swampy-ass Florida.
I wonder where the hell I put my jump rope...
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.

Aaaahhh. My calves. *falls over* I just woke up and OWWW.

64 in a row. *gasp* I think my cardio abilities suck. I will keep going. After a water break.![]()
man i thought i was bad i can only do 150.
do you think it makes a difference if you do the fake jump rope as opposed to using a real one?

i want one of those little excersize trampolines. i could just see myself getting spazzed on 5 hour energy shots and going to town for hours haha.

^^60 more! I rest my legs now! I have a stitch in my side. Damn, I hope this whips me into shape. I'll have to work up to 15 minutes straight though! *gasp*
Y'all are making me want to breakout my jump rope !I think I will, I could use a little more cardio in my workouts.

I need to get a jump rope and start working out some more.
oooh. Thanks for bringing this up. I have been meaning to get a jump rope and start adding into my workout routine. I'm going right now to add it to shopping list for this week.

I had to work up to doing a 100 per set I do 3 sets but I love my results and yes having the jump rope is way better and if you mess up it will hit you and ouchie!! Keep it up girlie you will be happy you did!
What do you all think is a good starter number of turns per set? I'm pretty fit but more so from things like yoga, pilates and polework and not so much in the stamina area.

Apparently I suck at the stamina too. I did 2 sets of 50 the first day. 60 the next. Today I did 2 sets of 90. Your calves. They will hurt. I have some serious energy today though (after sleeping 11 hours!). And my butt looks higher. I swear. I just did some new butt exercises but that was just last night. Whatever, it looks better! Take THAT 31 year old butt. Jump. Jump. Jump.

Before I left my takewando training, the skipping (jumping rope) I did was for three minutes. It became easier as I became fitter. I just about die now if I did it
30 seconds slow jump
30 seconds quick jump
repeat
