    Default Jumping Rope

Anyone jump rope for cardio? I've been searching for a decent cardio I can do at home and I keep coming across jumping rope. It does make you sweat!

I did it today! Apparently you burn 750 calories per HOUR! That's insane. I only managed to jump 100 times before dying (NOT in a row). It's pretty fun though. We need to get some Swers together to turn the rope for double dutch. And to remember some of those jumping rhymes.

I was just reading about jumping rope. In order for it to have a cardio effect, you should do it for 15 mins straight. That equals a 9 min mile; they even say if you mess up, start from zero. Its a great workout, I'm going to walmart to buy a jump rope tomorrow.

I was all sorts of into jumping rope last winter when I was on my fitness kick (I'm, um, not on one at present). It was rad because I did so little of it per day (10-15 min. compared to an hour of jogging) and I saw results. It made me hot as hell, though, and unpleasantly lightheaded, but that's not the jump rope's fault. That's because I had to jump rope outside-- no room in the house-- and I live in swampy-ass Florida.

I wonder where the hell I put my jump rope...
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.

What do you all think is a good starter number of turns per set? I'm pretty fit but more so from things like yoga, pilates and polework and not so much in the stamina area.

Apparently I suck at the stamina too. I did 2 sets of 50 the first day. 60 the next. Today I did 2 sets of 90. Your calves. They will hurt. I have some serious energy today though (after sleeping 11 hours!). And my butt looks higher. I swear. I just did some new butt exercises but that was just last night. Whatever, it looks better! Take THAT 31 year old butt. Jump. Jump. Jump.

We do jump rope daily. Either 3 3min sets or 5 3 min sets then floor warm up then class.

It's a fucking PAIN and it HURTS but it does work like NO other!

    A text I got:

Before I left my takewando training, the skipping (jumping rope) I did was for three minutes. It became easier as I became fitter. I just about die now if I did it

    30 seconds slow jump
    30 seconds quick jump

    repeat

I don't know why I never thought of this. I could totally do this in my living room and burn some extra calories. Thanks for the thread!
