Default Does Anyone Remember The Stripper Who Sued?

Not too long ago there was a story on the news about a stripper who got injured on the job and sued the club. Does anyone remember hearing about that? If so, what was the outcome? There was a place in El Toro, CA that had girls sign a contract stating that they wouldn't sue if they got injured on the job. The girls worked only for tips so that place was able to get away with it. Are places that pay dancers a salary the only ones that can get sued or does the law vary in each state?

I want to say it was the Brass Flamingo in Indiana. I know there was a dancer at a club in IN that successfully sued the club after being hurt on the pole. Don't know if that's what you're thinking of though.

We get paid hourly at my club with no house fees. It's all under the table, mind you, but if we get injured on the job and require a lot of medical attention, the club will help cover some of our costs up to a certain point. Ex: I had a panic attack at work the other day, and the club is covering my ambulance ride and ER doctor bills, but not my medication. Another girl twisted her ankle really badly and the club paid for her xrays, but not the physical therapy she opted for.

However, they wont pay for certain injuries, like pole injuries, since pole dancing is an option and not required.

I believe the laws vary from state to state, but I'm pretty sure that if they pay you hourly, they take some responsibility for the employees. At least, that's the case in Hawaii.

Club 939 in Hawaii. Almost every Hawaii club pays hourly or salary.

They take "house fees" from your hourly pay, so you walk home with at least SOME money. It isn't really a house fee, since it isn't money you earned in tips, which I see as a fee more than being deducted from my hourly wage.

If you are scheduled, you get paid more per hour and only pay your house fee once a week, but if you miss a shift, you have to pay the house your entire hourly wage for the night. If unscheduled, each night has a house fee of $20 and you get paid less, but there is no problem if you have to miss a shift for emergencies. I am unscheduled, since I have a day job which has variable hours.

We get to keep all our tips from stage and table dances. We get $20 off of a $30 private dance (1 song), $40 off of a $50 private dance (2 songs) and $80 off a $100 private dance (15 minutes). Our CR start at $300, of which we get $200, and go on up to $1000, of which we get $800. The CR are 30 min each. We sell drinks, as well, for $20 each, of which we get $10. So, if I sell 10 drinks, 3 private dances at 1 song each, 3 table dances and make $200 in tips, plus my hourly wage, I end up with anywhere from $580 to $620 a night. Hawaii rate of living, however, is extremely high. My apartment rent is a 375 sq/ft studio and it is $1250 a month, and groceries cost $150 a week for one person (a gallon of milk is around $10), so the money doesn't go as far as it would if I lived in the mainland.

Thanks, LadyM! The dancer in IN is the one I was thinking of. I finally found the article and the name of the club which was, The Shangri-La.

I believe there's some clubs in Nor Cal that pay hourly as well. To get more girls in.
