Sad on the subject of purses....

I'm hating my walk to work right now. THeres a certain designer store i walk by that has a purse i fell in LOVE with, in the window.

Its a valentino purse. 2100$. Four months rent. FOr like, a month now, this thing has been obsessing me.

Anyone ever bought a cheaper replica purse? If so, where did you get it? I've seen some replicas online, but without being able to hold it and touch it, I'm a little wary. Plus, 150-200 is STILL a lot for a purse, even a replica of this luscious goddess. I'm usually pretty good at staying secure online, but since ebay tends to frown on replicas, i've only seen it on other web sites i haven't been able to verify.

    Help?!

(PS. This is the purse. I would die to own it in the Purple, and in the WhiteGold, and in Red, though i haven't seen it for sale in Red. For some reason, the purple isn't listed on the website, or in any other retailers-i've only seen it in person, or available from the replica people))

Someone talk some sense into me. I KNOW that fashion obsession runs in my moms side of the family, and buying a nice purse is THE quintessential sign of womanhood, but i can't SERIOUSLY be considering buying it! (in my head right now "Oh, well the boutique had a sign up for 27% off one item. So that would mean it would be about 1500. THats a lot better!" But 1500 is still three months rent, and desperatly needed towards my taxes)

a good replica all the patterns like on the coach purses or louies are lined up, on the cheap ones they are obviously not as well made.

ive never bought a good one for myself but i get them for my mom for xmas, and she loves them.

THis is leather, and not patterned, so nothign to match.

I have to admit, i hate hte designer patterns. Louies and coaches just don't look remotely good to me. I like more subtle detailing, like hte leather braiding on this one.

i got a fake gucci off a website, though i don't remember the name. the fake was pretty good and didn't fall apart at all, after a lot of usage, but i've seen some terrible fakes. it was the first fake i bought and the person selling it had multiple pictures, not just stock pictures so when i got it, it was what i expected.

its not just pattern matching its also the quality of stitching and the faux fabrics. some even have the fake serial numbers in them, etc.

Yeah, the one i'm looking at has fake serial numbers. UNfortunatly, since its online, i can't really nitpick hte quality of stitching too much. He has several pictures up, it looks really nice(only detail thats futzed is that the leather on the purple one is the same somewhat shiny finish, not sueded, like the original purse, but EH, nitpick!).

But its hard to say, with it being online.

IMO fake designer purses (no matter how good!) just aren't the same. I bought a $3800 (three months bills) Prada bag last fall, and it is my little baby!! I know I will have it forever, and don't regret buying it one bit!

That's not four months rent... it's only 105 lapdances. 30 lapdances a night. 3 1/2 nights work. Easy.

well, I guess it being worth it is relative...

what else would you do with the money if you didn't spend it on this bag?

Could you love a $500 purse almost as much?

I got a very good fake Jimmy Choo and it fucking sucks. I would not buy another counterfeit bag ever. It fell apart a few months later. It looks fabulous at first, very well constructed but it fooled me and ate shit after a few months of lugging it around everywhere. It was a fake Madhi style bag, great for hauling all your shit
so spacious. If you really want it I'd just save for the real deal, just my 2cents.=)

LOL i love you, Lys.... That went right over my head. Hehehehe.

I could love a 500$ purse as much, if there was one with a style of detailings I like, which I haven't found. Like i said, i dont like flashy patterns, or boring designs with the usual pouches.

see, I really FALL for items, and stays that way. I dont see a lot that i like, but when i do, it tends to be things i can use for any purpose, and that i don't get tired of. I don't really have a closet graveyard.

I have a bag that I still love, that I bought a few years ago for almost $1000.

But the thing is, I never use it. I love it too much to use as my every day bag. I hardly ever really "go out", and would never bring it to work... and it's too much of a pain in the ass to transfer everything over when I want to use it when I go to the mall or something where it'd be appropriate.

So, if you're going to be like that too, maybe you shouldn't get it.

yha that 5 months and a week of rent for me....no. fucking. way.

Just think it'll be out of style in a few months and you'll find another one you like just as much if not more and want to get that one too.

I'm not a bag person at all mind you. I wont buy a bag period unless I REALLY need one and it's got to be for sale at ross. It's just a bag, save your money for something you can live in.

Yeah, i don't really have the disposable money. I WOULD use it to damn death if i had it, and it will probably be a bit before i fall for something else(i don't really go by styles, i have a particular kind of obvious craftsmenship detail I like, in all my clothing/accessories, that its rare to find things that have, particularly wtih purses).

I'm tempted to just buy a replica. if it falls apart easily, then MEH, it wasn't that much of a loss. I'm not one for the name recognition value of things.

I'm sitll kind of kicking myself for falling in love with it. Last week I had a dream about myself carrying it, and then taking my camera out of it, and happily shooting pictures(my camera doesnt fit in any of my normal size purses, but would fit in this). I never imagined I would be the sort of girl to lust after a designer anything, . I always pictured some well meaning relative picking something out for me and then me pretending to be impressed.

The last 3 designer purse i got were presents from custys. I usually can't justify myself spending that kind of money, epsecially since i like to switch purses every season. Whenever I go shopping and find one that I am really in love with- i start telling custys to take me shopping. It usually takes me a couple of weeks to find the right sucker, but one way or the other i get my purse.
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

Yes, get someone else to buy it. Given your youth and the fact you live on your own, you need to save what you would spend out of your own pocket for yourself.
