    Default Goji berries

OMG. I am obsessed with goji berries. I don't like the way they taste, they're actually kind of gross to me.... a bitter/sour/sweet weird taste... but I can't stop eating them!!! They contain all 18 amino acids and are full of antioxidants and I think my body just knows they're good for me. Anyone else eat them?

I've tried them. I know they are super-nutritous, but I just could not get past the flavor.

I put them on salads and cereal. They're gross alone.

they're so good for you though..... I just tell myself they're medicine. They are gross.....I've had some really good ones from the sunfood brand. The ones you get at the store are usually REALLY dry and darker in color... the ones I bought were cheaper, moister, brighter colored, certified organic and tasted way better.

celestial seasonings makes a green tea that has goji berries in it--minus the goji berry taste. instead, it tastes like pomegranate. it's called "goji berry pomegranate green tea."

    yummy!

I used sell Himalayan Goji Juice so I'm very aware of its health benefits.

So.. if you do get caught up with it.. stay away from the juices as most of them are part of multi-level marketing (which would rather recruit you than sell their product).. or at least aren't made in a quality way for you to really experience the benefits of goji berries.

I agree with others who say that they are best NOT alone.. they are best with other things...

i get plenty of antioxidants from the blueberries in my yard. goji berries never did more than make me feel kinda ill*.

    http://www.crumcreek.com/library/antioxidant.html

that's a nice article on antioxidant sources-- plenty of easy to grow sources besides goji berries. also, it advocates a bit more for blueberries, and i like that, since i already have them ready to hand-- right outside my window really.

the wikipedia article on goji berries is also pretty informative without dismissing their nutritive value.

*i've only had goji berries in dried and juice form-- perhaps they taste different raw.

They're fine. I eat them sometimes, but it's just a fruit...no food is a 'superfood', despite what marketing companies want you to believe.

^ Yah, I think all dark berries are pretty good for you, but like anything else the worse it tastes the more nutritious it probably is for yah. Lol.

I actually like raw baby spinach. yum.

and yeah I agree that the term "superfood" is just used as a marketing tool to sell things....but goji berries really do have a lot of health benefits, as do blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries... every type of berry! but not all berries have all 18 amino acids, and amino acids make up protein- and i'm a vegan.

there's more than 18 amino acids, and sources vary as to how many are essential (8-10).

i should go eat some frozen blueberries. berries are always really good picked and immediately frozen for later consumption with cream.

Plus blueberries are generally cheaper to consume than Goji berries.

As I said, I know ALL about Goji berries. They did wonders for me for a period than I think my body got immune or the juice I was having (and selling at the time) was starting to go downhill... I dunno. All I know, blueberries......yum!

I always keep two packets frozen in my fridge (freezer).

I've been seeing these a lot lately at the herb store and the co-op. I was thinking about getting some, but I don't know what to do with them. The ones I'm seeing are dried. How should I eat them?

The flavor sounds good to me, I LOVE really sour things. (I also really love steamed kale and raw spinach.)

My parents always put them in some Chinese chicken soup when I was small. I didn't know what it was, just thought it was one of the many weird dried herbs they used.
