Is plastic surgery like a cell phone?

I am curious as to what everyone else thinks.....

I am thinking about getting breast implants but hesitating a bit. I keep flip flopping and totally over thinking the whole process.

On the one side I am afraid I will loose my "little girl" look.

But then on the flip side, is plastic surgery like a cell phone - we all need it to become the most beautiful we can be? Is it now a rite passage in a our adult (female/male) lives?

Does anyone think plastic surgery will fall out of vogue or become a necessity?

I hope plastic surgery is never a necessity! If I could pop a pill and make my boobs bigger I might but there is no way I would go under the knife.

I don't see it going "out of style" but I hope medical advances will make changes more affordable and less invasive.

I'm confused with the cell phone analogy too. How do cell phones make us beautiful?

Plus, most people don't get plastic surgery.

What I mean by the analogy "plastic surgery to cell phones" is that in the early 90s there were only a few people who had cell phones/car phones, now everyone has one and people don't know what they did without it.

Is this where plastic surgery is heading?

Just a guess, but humans have lived without cells phones for millions of years and now suddenly everyone MUST have a cell phone. Will plastic surgery become the same thing?

Maybe getting wisdom teeth out would have been a better analogy?

...or any piece of technology, really.

But still, I don't see it as a right of passage. it's still taboo for teenagers to get as a gift from their parents, so you have to save a long time for it or get a "friend" to buy it. And well, that's not something most people are willing to do.

And as oboxious as cell phone contracts are, it's still scarier to have someone cut you open, stuff a bag of salt water in you, and sew you back up.

Hahaha, no I don't think its like a cell phone at all. How many people have $5,000 to dispose of and can take 2 weeks off work, all in the name of tits?

Just because most dancers have it, its still somewhat of a taboo for the rest of the population. "Normal" women who get it done usually don't want anyone to know, or don't want "anything too noticeable" because for some reason they want people to think they grew their tits naturally.

    You are overthinking it.

I doubt it'll become a necessity. There are plenty of beautiful people with it and without it. There are plenty of not-so-pretty people with it too.

    got it!

A little bit...I think western beauty standards are going to continue to veer towards the ridiculous resulting from the push to plastic surgery, but it's like a pendulum...it will swing back, and eventally some other body mod will be in style. Think flat flapper boobs in the 20's...wasp waist/corsetry from the 19th century...foot binding...it's all faddish.

I doubt that you'll see the majority of women walking around with implants anytime soon. Getting a cell phone is a lot easier. You don't have to cut open your body and shove a foreign object in, then stretch the tissue over said foreign object then stitch the whole thing closed.

I'm not saying that as a person who is against it. I have implants, and I love them. But it is not something to be done on a whim. At least with a cell phone, you can pay the $250 ( or whatever) and be done with your contract. Implants should be treated with special care in making that decision.

I think its more prevalent in certain metropolitan areas thats for sure, I mean you see fake tits every where in LA and in So Cal in general, kinda like where you see everyone on their blackberries and fancy phones...haha.
I think its a massive trend thats for sure.
I dont think it will ever be a necessity, its more of a hinderance than anything in the long run. I mean you have to get them replaced, you could have complications, etc
    etc.
Well I need to take a nap I dont know where im rambling at with this.
If you want them think about it for a long time first. Thats my only advice,
    because it is a trend.
If it could make you happy then go for it, I am not against it I am actually probably going to be getting them this year
on account of some reconstructive surgery I will be undergoing.

LMAO. Seriously get it if you want to feel better about yourself or whatever your reason is. Dont think of your own personal choice to get surgery in terms of society. It's a personal decision. You are over thinking it.

You are afraid you will loose your little girl look? That's just creepy.

There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I don't think silicon boobs will ever become quite as popular as cell phones, but yes I do think it will continue becoming more and more common. I definitely plan on getting a face lift when I'm like, 40.

I don't think you need to get fake boobies if you don't want them. Don't worry- its not a necessity. Maybe it just seems that way because we work in strip clubs when there's a much higher concentration of silicone.

With the majority of clubs I have worked at I have gotten labeled "the girl with no tits" because I really was one of the only ones without breast implants. I work in NYC, NJ and FL so maybe that's the problem.

But what occurred to me as strange was that an article in Time Mag was about the explosion of plastic surgery and how it is hitting the middle class. It didn't have any men with their stories, only women.

I am triple thinking over my boobs and making sure if this is the right step for me personally and professionally. Still hanging on the fence.

If you're worried about losing your little girl look I assume it's because your little girl look makes you money, or makes you feel sexy or special or something that makes the idea of losing it worth worrying over. So you'd be trading that in for... what? The same fake boobs that all the other girls at your club have? I don't know what it's like in your area but surely guys everywhere like a bit of variety. I'd keep the small boobs and the little girl look and stand out if I was you. Best of luck deciding what to do!
