    Default Palin's Speech Was Electrifying

.....if you ignore the lies. For the record this is what that fresh young community organizer, Obama, did when he was 23.

    [snip]
Now, the truth is that, starting at age 23, Obama ran a faith-based charity called the Developing Communities Project.
It was made up of eight Catholic parishes when he got there and had one staff member. He was its director, meaning he was in charge. He made decisions about it, including staffing, budgets, etc. And when he left in 1988 to go to law school, he had grown its budget from $70,000 to $400,000, its staff from 1 to 13 people. More important, he created a job training program for this community and a college prep tutoring program.

As mayor, she built a hockey rink/rec center using eminent domain (because apparently there just isn't enough land in Alaska).

And keep in mind the timeline here: Obama did this as a young man BEFORE going to law school, becoming a successful lawyer and a law professor. [snip]

He was so devout he gave up his party years to work with the so-called least among us and Ms Palin spent her early years as....a beauty queen and sports reporter. Riveting.

Since you want to set the record straight, what he was doing was developing connections within the Chicago political machine during those years. I've not heard much about his success as a lawyer and he was only a guest lecturer at the law school, where he supposedly refused to even discuss issues with those tenured professors of a different opinion.

His most significant accomplishment to date, if not his only one, was to conduct a campaign capable of derailing the Clintons.

Awww, bem, thank you for coming to visit my thread. It's good to see you!
Try harder with the debate though because Palin was still a second runner up beauty queen during her 20s. Good luck finding anything else to distinguish her.

Its really kind of a shame we are forced to debate who is the more qualified of two people who are totally unqualified.

The fact of the matter though is that Palin is not likely to become President for several years ( at least 4 barring something dramatic happening to McCain) if the Reps win, but Obama will be President in in less than 5 months if the Dems win.

As someone else on the site said, she may well be ready someday down the line and maybe Obama will too, but not by Jan 20.

this is a point that mainstream news media seems to be trying hard to ignore ! And despite this fact, a poll released today (but taken before the speech) showed that 39% of Americans considered Palin to be more qualified than Obama to be president !

In terms of Palin's speech (which I only heard after-the-fact snippets from), it certainly seemed that a large number of her statements were specifically targeted towards 'swing state' voters ! THIS of course is where the deciding votes in the upcoming election lie. As I have posted about earlier, given the way the electoral college presidential voting system works it doesn't matter one bit if Palin loses support in California or New York or Illinois. However, it matters tremendously if Palin gains support in Pennsylvania or Florida or Ohio or New Mexico.

A lot of her statements were intended for the base of the party, which has lukewarm support for McCain at best. If they rally on her behalf, the Republicans will get bumps from coast to coast. how it affects the electoral vote remains to be seen.

I'm not so sure it was a good idea to shit on community organizers. I mean isn't that what much of the faith based groups do? Aren't they a big part of the republican base?

And aren't republicans always talking about keeping the fed out of social program business and relegating that stuff to local groups. So now they are saying it is bad to help anyone ever. Even those without federal funds attached.

I think Obama had a great response to that when he mentioned or rather asked just who are they fighting for if they are against local non profit groups helping out those in need.

Seems to me more like who are they against?

Actually, that number would scare me if I was a Republican.

No matter what the poll, _______ vs Obama, there will always be people that chose the other side because there are people that just don't want Obama to be president.

So if that number is way less than half for someone chosen to rally support for the nominee....yeah, I'd be worried.

By the way, how many people think Biden is more qualified then McCain?

I saw the speech. I liked her and liked how she could say so many nasty thing and still look like a darling little angel.

^^^ well, 49% of those surveyed felt that Obama was more qualified than Palin ... which still isn't a majority given 10% undecided. Of course the (IMHO proper) question of Obama's qualifications versus McCain's qualifications wasn't raised by the survey !

Evreyone is talking about Palin as if she is the nominee...so such a poll doesn't surprise me.

Nobody even gives a shit about Biden.

Wow, just what the community boards needed. Another pointless pissing thread where the sheep from both parties, out of context things, hive five their teammates, and have nothing compelling to say otherwise.

Hey, don't mind me. Carry on. I didn't even watch the damned speech.

Saying being a community organizer doesn't qualify you to be President can hardly be considered shitting on community organizers. And I don't think Obama's organization was faith-based in the first place.

So I guess you're saying the Dems saying McCain's time in the Hanoi Hilton doesn't qualify him to be President is considered shitting on POW's?

LOL But I bet Jesus' miracles in no way match those of our new Messiah. If I was Jesus I would be pissed at my Dad for allowing this usurpation. I mean, Jesus has been the big dog for 2000 years.
