    Default Shrinking a dress?

Fuck can someone help me I really dont want to take this dress to a tailor unless I really have to. I got this badass dress from Austrailia on Ebay.
Its 95% cotton and 5% spandex. It says: gentle machine wash, and do not tumble dry. =(
I just googled how to shrink stuff and it says wash in very hot water, and dry on the highest heat setting.
This dress has printed designs on it. I cant tell if they are silk screened, they all most look like they are part of the fabric weave.
Do you think I will kill it if I do the usual shrinking routing of washing in hot water and drying on a hot setting? What would you do?thanks girls

I would probably bring it to the tailor if you love it but second choice would be to dry on very low heat about 5 minutes at a time and observe, gradually increasing heat and observing for damage.

Have you been to a tailor before? I was expecting to pay a fortune but paid only $25 to have a size 12 gown turned into size 4. I don't know where you live, but I don't think it would hurt to go in an get a quote.

You'll shrink the dress but not the thread. Think about it.

Yeah im tailor-bound with this one. I dont want to kill it in the dryer. That would suck, and I dont want to post it back to Austrailia. Thanks for the input ladies. =)
