As everyone and their mother knows, I have sleep issues. I tried REALLY hard to sleep a set schedule. I even set myself up for one. I purposefully went to bed at a certain time for TWO MONTHS and it just. never. worked.
My sleep schedule lately has been 'when I can get it'. I slept from 4am-8am yesterday, 2pm-6pm that afternoon, and 12am-2am just now and was awoken from the phone. I plan on sleeping again (G-d willing) from 4am-7:30am when I need to wake up for training.
Which is obviously WAY less than the normal recommended sleeping times, and I know I won't get a nap in until at least 7pm tomorrow, after the maid leaves and training is over.
It's less stressful on my body than trying (without caffeine!) to stay awake late so I can get my normal 4am-12pm strippersleep. I just kept not falling asleep or, worse, waking up at 8 and not being able to sleep again. It was, previously, a constant battle of will to stay awake and then a constant battle to fall asleep... it never worked.
But now I just sleep when I'm tired - I worry about the longterm effects. It's seriously the best I can do. Sleep just doesn't work for me. I am hyper and have a high metabolism but I am always a bit tired. I still rarely drink caffeine because, well, I was on a caffeine diet for awhile and whoooeee, that doesn't help insomnia!
How healthy is this 'sleep when I can get it' pattern?
Doctors won't prescribe me anything long term and I -know- 3 months of pills will get me... 3 months of sleep. My schedule just reverts back the day after I stop taking them anyway. *sigh*
