What, in your opinion is the most effective moisturizer?
My skin is super dry since I took accutane. I'm afraid I'll get wrinkles.

I use Murad and it's perfect for my breakout prone skin. got it through Sephora

I love Darphin Hydraskin light. It also comes in a heavier more moisturising version for dryer skins.
Unfortunately they dont make it in oil-free and my dermatologist says I must use oil free moisturisers so I can't use it anymore. Now I use Neutrogena oil free moisturiser.
There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.
Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I love love love love (did I say LOVE?! yet)

La Mer
its expensive but worth it, theres nothing better for your skin
+1 on jojoba oil.

I read in Dont Go The The Cosmetics Counter Without me (bigger than the bible it seems!) that La Mer has poor ingredients. I have not tried it because I read that and some other stuff about how its not so great.
I dont have an ingredients list on it but there are a few ingredients that are harmful to your skin in it.

jojoba oil.
used very lightly

La Mer is probably better than lot of other stuff out there. So if someone were using like St. Ives before and then switched to La Mer, their skin will look a lot better.
I've never tried it though.

Yeah I read that in her book and she analyzes all of the chemicals and ingredients in the products and how they effect your skin. I dont know the real deal on it though. Her book is Dont go to the cosmetics counter with out me by Paula Begoun (sp?).
I know Johnny Depp will not go to a movie set with out massive amounts of the La Mer line. Haha
I’m a big fan of Lush so for you I recommend Skin Drink
I also like Philosophy products as well so you might try the Hope in a Jar dry skin version.
La Mer was invented by a NASA scientist to treat burns on the face. I dunno, if it would be bad for skin. Really though, burn treatment to wrinkle prevention seems to be different ends of the skin care spectrum.

I have tried a bunch of different ones and love Loreal Revitalift

Sunscreen!!! Sun-sccreeeennn!!!
Any moisturizer with sunscreen is best to prevent wrinkles, age spots and a whole 'nother slew of things. I'm dark brown and still use moisturizer with sunscreen.
Using Neutrogena dry touch spf 30.

I love purity as a cleanser too!!
However for an actual moisturizer I use H2) Face Oasis hydrating treatment. You can use a little as a moisturizer or slather it on thick and leave it for a bit before wiping excess off- that makes a great hydrating mask!

La Mer has mineral oil. I bought the giant embarassingly expensive tub 2 years ago and still have it. I thought it was "the best" as well.
It made my skin break out.
The cream originally was medicinal and healing, however the recipe was sold to Estee Lauder and I believe was re-vamped. It doesn't work on burns either, nor does it heal or rejuvenate the skin.
I do however like using Retin-A to speed up skin exfoliation. For moisturizing, I like a product called Egyptian Magic. I also like vitamin E and avocado capsules that I get from chinatown for $2.50/90 capsules

No. I used to have that mentality a few years ago. You are just spending $ through clever marketing. I am really more embarassed than upset that I spent so much $ on the tub, thinking it would stop time.
On another nore- I have also used Prevage which is supposed to be a good product, but have not kept up with it. I didn't notice anything really dramatic when using it, but a lot of people like it.
