Default Moroccan Oil ( Hair Crack)

i heard about this maroccan oil from a hair dresser about a month or so ago and if you haven't heard of it you will soon, The Oil is called hair crack in salons because when used on the clients they get addicted to it and keep coming back for more.

i recently went very light blonde and she put it on my hair because my hair looked damaged, it kept my hair from breaking off as it usually does when i go light blonde.. after the first 12 hours of using this stuff (the oil) my hair felt as if had before i dyed it, soft and lusterous rather then like straw.

i have been using this oil eevr since i'm hooked! there are also other maroccan oil products that are suppose to work wonders also, the creme ,etc.. amazing product!

    checkout their website..

I like the sound of that. It'll be a nice addition to my dominican products that I adore.

    Scarlett, it's Argan Oil.
    http://www.moroccanoil.com/About.htm

Bet we can find it cheaper, lol!! Are you as bad about hunting down beauty bargains as I am?

Edit! Go boxingdoc! So it has a bunch of 'cones; argan oil; and some linseed oil?? Yetch. I'd rather just buy the oil by itself; I put 'cones in my hair separately when I need them (Paul Mitchell Smoothing/Shine gel).

oooh i LOVELOVE LOVE that stuff, i use the oil too, but i like the mask better. i have long abused bleached hair and this makes a huge difference- i think it would just break off if i didn't use it, i tried it at my hair salon and it was like crack indeed. it wasn't cheap like $45 for a jar but totally worth it. goog to know about the ingredients though...
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

This one is organic, unrefined. It's $28 though. From what I've been researching it's a pretty rare tree. This seems like the cheapest, purest I've found online.

Here's my theory: The Morrocan Oil that's like crack is like crack because it gives the illusion of healthy hair (the cones, etc). But it damages it in the long run because it doesn't allow "breathing."

Anyone with curly hair tried it for a long time? How about just the pure oil?

My daughter has curly hair and has been using it for months now.
Her hair is gorgeous. Seems to work well for her.

I use it too but my hair is stick straight.
    I like the stuff personally.

the cones will build up on top of your hair cuticle eventually making it dull and lifeless, eventually leading to breakage.

^^^ Why does your hair have to breathe? I don't know! lol Isn't that why silicones are bad for the hair? I don't know much about hair products.

Any styling product will eventually build up making it look like crap. Using a decent chelating shampoo will keep it from occuring. As for breakage I can't honestly say i've had an issue with hair dryness/breakage and neither has my daughter. We both use a lot of dimethicone/silicone type hair products. *shrug*

Exactly what I said earlier. Hair is a keratinised protein filament. It isn't alive and has no need to "breath" like skin does. It's the same stuff your nails are made out of.

I'm not discounting the credibility of the link you posted but at the same time, just because someone writes something it doesn't mean it's true.

The article claims it someone how creates a seal that traps all sorts of stuff underneath. That would probably be an issue if you constantly applied it and never washed it off.

Dimethicone (Polydimethylsiloxane PDMS) is a silicone based organic polymer.
(Polymers are molecules which consist of a long, repeating chain of smaller units called monomers; for example human DNA is a polymer with over 20 billion constituent atoms)

PDMS is optically clear, and is inert, non-toxic and non-flammable. IN addition to beauty and hair products, it's a major ingrediant in Silly Putty. It's also a food additive used as a common anti-caking/anti-foaming agent. It's also used as an environmentally-friendly dry cleaning solution (Green Earth Cleaning).

    *shrug*

I use products with it as an ingrediant and haven't personally had an isssue with it. No one I personally know has either. I'm not saying i'm right, just presenting an alternate view.
