    Default Scratched Cornea?

So, last night I poked my eye on some decorative sticks in a bow thing - stupid things in the trash now. Anyway - I think I scratched my cornea... it hurts sooo bad-like theres something in my eye and i will all of a sudden start crying really thick tears and they make it hurt even more. The tears feel heavy and thick unlike normal tears... B thinks the same thing and told me as long as I can see out of it (I can) it should heal in a day or 2.

Anyone ever scratched their cornea and how long before it healed? I could go to the doctor but I dont think they can do anything for me and I have school today...

i would go see an ophthalmologist. you may have scratched it enough to need ointment and a patch to let it heal. i scratched mine when i was 9 or 10 with my pinky nail while sleeping. i could still see, but i needed ointment to keep it from getting infected, apparently i still have a scar on mah eyeball lol

you don't want to mess with your eyes, better to be safe than sorry!

Patches are bad, antibiotic drops or ointment are good. A minor emergency center should be able to take care of this for you.

^ Correct. I took my brother to the ER when his eye got scratched.....It healed just fine with antibotic eyedrops. Better safe than sorry.

Luckily I have insurance so I ended up making an appt with my doctor (whom Id never met before and it a total babe - hotter than my hot OB). lol. He looked and its a nice deep hole just over the bottom corner of my eyeball. He referred me to an opthamologist who I have an appointment with in an hour...

That's exactly how mine felt. The Opthamologist used some sort of numbing drops to stop the pain, another drop to seal the scratch, and an antibiotic ointment to prevent infections. Healed up by the next morning.

Dark sunglasses may help with the pain.

Yeah, it sounds like you had a more serious abrasion. I'm sorry you are hurty.

Just take it easy, wear some sunglasses, and use the ointments as prescribed. Feel better soon, Miss Audrey.

I had a scratched cornea a couple of years ago and my eye doctor prescribed antibiotic eyedrops and a moisturizing eye gel, to protect my eye during the day and at night. He was taking it pretty seriously, as your eye can get infected deep inside. It took about three weeks before he decided I was healed and fully recovered.

Audrey I'm glad you went to the doctor! Your eyes are definitely one thing you don't want to fuck around with. Can't get another pair of them!
