How do I get into the clubs and sell clothes that I make?
I danced for four years and now I want to make dance clothes, but don't know clubs policies on selling. Would most clubs just let me in?
Anyone have any experience with this?

I would just call the club and ask to speak to the manager.
If you are a dancer, I don't think it would be a problem to keep a stash in your locker and tell the other girls.

Every club is different so really need to call them to find out. In my are there are a couple that don't really care and let you just come on in. Then there's one that if they let you come in to sell they want something like 10% of your sales. Yeah right, I'll be right over to sell at your club!

Thanks for the replies, everyone!
I definently am going to do this. There is even a club in my area hiring the dreaded, HOUSEMOM. That would steal my weekends from my family....but I am thinking about it.
I won't sell at a place that is going to charge me. That's crap.
I used to be a "costume lady" a few years back and was very successful when I did it. I didn't make clothes...I purchased them wholesale from Dancewear Companies. Anyways...I would suggest going to the clubs in person...not calling and bring a few of your best designs with you. Dress professionally, and be prepared to sell yourself. Ask to speak to the manager and tell him/her that you are a custom dancewear designer and that you would like to promote your designs to their ladies. I don't recommend calling because you never know who you are talking to on the phone and they may tell you no just because they don't feel like going through the hassle of finding the manager. The person on the phone may not have the authority to decide and may still tell you no over the phone. It's best to go in person early in the evening on a slow night like a Mon or Tues. that way you know exactly who to speak with and you will have an opportunity to sell yourself and what you have to offer. Usually what they wll do is offer you a slow night first...like a Tuesday and then after you show consistancy they may let you change your day to a Friday or Saturday. If they seem resistant, you may even consider offering an incentive to the club or the manager i.e 10% of your sales. Once you get the go ahead, show up every week on the day they tell you to come.
