Do I have to go tanning? I have some remnants of tan lines from being outside this summer so I'm not stark white or anything but tanning is not really my thing. Do I need to get a tan before I get on stage?

No.
Some girls like it, some men like it, others don't care.. it's all about confidence and personal preference.
Of course not! Do what you think looks best.![]()

You don't HAVE to, but I think everyone looks better with a tanThen again, I am in Texas...it's the norm here.

eiwww...real tanning is so bad for your skin...i highly discourage it, but i like the sunlabs tanning lotion as mentioned in another thread
I go through phases of not caring and just being pale, using just sunless tanner, being addicted to the tanning bed and going every other day.... and where I am now- which is a mixture of using self-tanner on places I want to be super tan- my legs and stomach mostly, and going to a high-quality tanning bed with UVA rays only 2-3 times a week, always wearing sunscreen on my face and tattoo so I don't damage them from the sun.
I think everyone looks better tan personally..... biologically it signals to men that you're healthy because you're outdoors a lot being active.

What about nails? Do I have to get my nails done? I am really not a high maintenance girl. How much girlie bullshit is really required in this profession? I know some of it comes down to how much money I want to make but really do guys notice if your fingernails aren't done and your roots are showing? I need to know if I just need to suck it up and do these things or if I can just be me.
Being tan, having your nails done and your hair done make you look more put together, sophisticated and EXPENSIVE, guys will spend money on someone who looks expensive. money attracts money.
However.... you don't have to spend a lot of money or time to look expensive. You could spend 100/month on a tanning package and lotion, 40 dollars every two weeks for acrylic pink and white nails and 75 or so every two weeks to get your roots touched up (if you're blonde or have highlights)
or.... you could spend 40/month on tanning twice a week or so for maintenance, buy a bottle of loreal sublime sunless tanner for 8 bucks to supplement, and buy your own nailpolish and do your own french mani and pedi and let your hair be its natural color<--- this is what i do... and I look tan, always have my nails done at work and spend around 50 bucks a month on maintenance.
Or you could just go pale, keep your nails short and clean and let your hair be its natural color and spend $0... but you may make less depending on where you live and the general type of girl guys want. I know for sure in Florida I couldn't get away with not doing my nails and being tan, but in portland I was pale and never did my nails and no one noticed.
