Default Let's play Identify this bug!

Okay, I was just sitting in bed with my laptop in my lap, browing SW as usual. Well, my cats jumped on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I look up and there is this HUGE bug that looks like a mosquito. But like, a mosquito on steroids.....remember Jumanji? Like that! LOL. My baby cat just caught it and ate it, but I'm worried that he shouldn't eat those bugs. Anybody know what it is?

Female mosquitoes are the ones that bite. Males don't bite.

Sounds like a male mosquito to me, although they usually just hang out by stagnant water. They don't go flying around. And yeah, the males don't bite, but they're huge like that.

Although it looks like a gigantic flying spider, they don't bite or anything. Basically harmless to humans (and cats).

OMG, I had the biggest fucking spider I've ever seen on my porch last week. I smashed it with a magazine. When I pulled it away and saw all the green goo that it squirted when it died, I screamed loud enough for the neighbors to come running from their porch to make sure I wasn't being murdered.

    It was like, this big

I'm almost positive those big things are called crane flies and they are harmless. They don't bite or anything, they are just really annoying.

and as for that spider- ick
