    Default Your Pet's Blank History?

I have 2 cats. One is 4.5 and I adopted him when he was 8 weeks. The other is 2.5 and I adopted him at age 2. He was a stray and has no history. He had to have had a previous owner because he was neutered and it would be impossible to live through a Canadian winter outside.

I constantly find myself wondering who he lived with before, and why they didn't look for him. I wonder if he was treated well or neglected.

Anyone else wonder about your pet's blank history?

I am lucky enough to know my animals history...my cats were feral kittens born in a colony, they and their mama were trapped and mama was spayed and released ( too old and too wild for rehab) her baby's were fostered until they were tame enough to be placed in homes. I adopted twin sisters, they were close and had to be placed together...and now they are almost 4 years old..they will always have a feral streak in them, they love each other very much but hate everyone else..the are very skittish around strangers and are only close to me and my (ex) boyfriend. they run and hide whenever strangers are in the house. but they love to be petted and cddled with by me or him.

my dog was a puppy when I adiopted him off cragislist...a woman got him for her kids..and then relized 3 kids and raising a puppy was to difficult so she put him up for adoption on craigslist. I think it was dumb of her to take on a puppy without knowing for sure if she could handle it..but I am forever grateful because he came into my life and he is the best animal in the world.this dog was just meant for me. I looked for a year before adotping him because i was waiting to find the right one for me and he is.

I never understood how people adotp animals lightly. all my pets were huge decisions made with tons of thought and adopted knowing that they would stay with me forever. I looked at and played with a million dogs and went to the pound all the time trying to find the right dog to adopt once the decision was made to get one.anyway...i guess that's kind of off topic...

My dog is somewhere between 2 and 4 years old. I adopted him from the Humane Society when he was full grown, so his vet isn't sure of his exact age. The HS said they found him running free through town. He's always been very sweet, never agressive, and very intelligent. But he wasn't nuetured, so we think he just took off for a girl dog and just couldn't find his way "home". But now, I'm his home Rumor has it, that his owner'r recognized him on a walk with a volunteer, but never came back to the shelter for him. Their loss.

My 2 cats were just "Found a kitten!" type scenerios. Except my siamese, she was a gift from my dad when I was a little girl, some 13 years ago. And the python was captive born, captive bred, so he's lived his life being taken care of.

I wonder about mboth my pets. My small dog i wonder about because I find it baffling how something so little, be the dog reincarnation of Napoleon...(Well I guess it makes some sense ) My big dog I got from the shelter- they found her wandering the streets. She had some really strange habits though, ie- she was afraid of doors. When i wanted her to go in or out of the yard I had to prop the door open and walk away- finally 10 min later she'd race through.
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

Oh, I try not to think about it because it breaks my heart I knew the people I got her from at aproximately age one and a half....I suspect that they stole her, because she's a Razor's Edge pitbull, which costs about 2000. These people were on welfare, so.....The reason I adopted Leila was bc I my bf and I saw her outside in a dirty filthy shit covered cage for weeks on end when we bought a property to rehab and flip. The people who had her didn't seem "bad," but I suspect they got Leila, didn't know what to do with her and just neglected her. She was 45 lbs and covered in mange and had worms and all nastiness when we got her. Within one month she had gained 15lbs, now she is at a healthy weight of 75lbs. The thing that disturbs me is she has giant swollen nipples, and that's a sign that she had puppies WAAAY too young....it disfigures their bodies *Cries* I hope it's not true.

My other dog was found abandoned with her brother at two months of age (aproximately) on the beach in Callifornia. My friend took her , his friend took the brother, and he gave her to us (named Calli for California.) I wonder what happened to her too....

I wonder that all of the time. I know the birthdate of my ferret and I bought her in a store. My kitten, however, was found wandering around outside at maybe three months and almost dead. I was told the theory was that someone had moved and abandoned him but I'm tempted to think he was a stray originally.

Bibs -- She was bought as a kitten from the Animal Welfare League shelter. Her history? No idea. To this day I have no idea which cat was her mother and so forth. She lived a good life with me.. 14 years.

Puddy - His history is sketchy and comes from heresay from my flatmate. My flatmate's Aunty was going to have him euthanised (basically abandoned) if a home could not be found for him. My flatmate pleaded with me. He came to our home at 3 years of age. He was gorgeous compared to the half blind, old (13) diabetic he is now... hahaha. I don't totally know his history nor my flatmate... supposedly the reason why he is a "Hungry Hungry Hippo" is due to how he was raised. Supposedly his aunty's kids would 'forget' to feed him here and there.. thus he developed a "scarcity consciousness" as such. He is always eating, always wanting everyone's food etc.

The other theory is that he was really Satan's familiar.

Marnie -- I adopted her from the AWL when she was 2.5 years of age. Prior to her adoption I was fostering her and her kids. It's then that I fell in love with her. She was a stray supposedly. Her special habit that I would looove to know how she developed is that she is a biter. She bites you (not hard) when she is really happy, playful and wants you to do something (put her down, to not put her down, etc).

What I found interesting is she had a note on her file as such saying, "Best suited to a one cat household". Um. Nope. WRONG! She's doing just fine with Puddy. She only hisses at him when he is too close to her (in her personal space). Otherwise, they are fine.

They get along better than when Bibs and Puddy were around. Bibs could NOT stand Puddy. She only ever tolerated him. That's only because it had been quite a good while between "mates" for Bibs thus she got used to being a solitary cat.

I thought Marnie would be trouble actually. There was a valid reason they had that note on her file .. I saw how she interacted with the other cats.

So yes. All the animals that have been in my life recently kinda have blank histories.

Does this bother me? Not really. It makes me curious however doesn't bother me. I enjoy their quirks.

Decided this thread needed da pictures. Here is my baby on my couch after she mysteriously decided to pull out a cushion and rearrange the other two to make it more comfortable. She is teh happy and pretty now. Don't mind the smudgies on my window from here constantly rubbing her nose on them. I should clean them, but, that lasts for about five minutes so I gave up.

Haha! He's blind. He is at my picture-taking mercy! He is also seriously bowing down to my greatness. Really. For serious! He says, "Oh, you are so... great..."!

    Thanks everyone for sharing!!

GCG - I love those bites. I used to call them "love bites" but I think that means hickey too LOL

Here is my history-less boy. He lost his ears due to frost bite. I still cannot fathom being a stray in a Canadian winter. Please ignore the pole in the background and my messy bed LOL

I mostly know my kittys history. When I was 17 my high school boyfriends fathers boss was retiring, and moving away. For some reason they didn't want to take their cat, so my boyfriends family begged me to take him. They knew how much I loved their cat, so they thought I would like to have one of my own. I begged my mother for weeks, til finally she gave in. Now I've had him for 6 years, the retired couple got him as a fairly young cat from the shelter, but before that he was an abused and abandoned cat. I have sometimes wondered whether he was born to a stray cat, or abandoned by a family....but mostly I'm just happy I have him now.

You could talk to a pet psychic. Someone posted about this a month or two ago: http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sho...ht=pet+psychic

A friend of mine had her horse read once. The pet psychic said the horse was grateful for the big white puffy things on his feet. She had forgotten to even mention it because it happened years before: the horse had gotten thrush and my friend wrapped his feet in bandages to keep the medication on them and give him something soft to stand on.

I dunno. I've always wondered about one of mine too.

Fuzzy Nuts (cat) was a package deal that came with my hubby. Fuzz is 10 years old. lazy and spiteful. Will answer to the name CAT said at high pitched intervals when he shreds houseplants. He has no tail, not even a nub. He was handfed by my hubby who adopted him when he was 2 weeks old. The cat thinks my hubby is momma. Likes me well enough not to pee on me.

Move (the dog) he sort of choose his own name, it is all he will answer to. He showed up one day then fenced himself in the backyard. Looks like he had been abused. He is healthy and playful now, also completely stupid.

Buddy( the other dog) showed up, also fenced himself into our yard. He is a pit bull type mix. Was horrifically abused at some point and very starved. Move likes him and they get along well. He is getting better slowly. No longer looks so pitiful. A lot more food and TLC and he is going to be beautiful. Has the best temperment. Very intelligent and loving. Has asserted himself as the dominant dog and Move lets him take charge.

Whiskers (cat) showed up last winter on the coldest day of the year, she was pregnant when she showed up. Loving tiger striped kitty that sensed I am a sucker for animals, so she kissed up to me and her she has stayed.

Mufasa (kitten) one of Whiskers offspring. He is silly and a total lap cat, solid black. has a soft meow that you can barely hear. No one wanted him and I couldn't stand the thought of him being euthanized. So he is mine now.

Clown (kitten) one of Whiskers offspring. She is the most jumbled patterned calico I have ever seen. She sucked up to my hubby, so she got to stay. The cat is clumsy, everything she jumps at she misses. Has a very determined personality, likes to sleep in the flowerpots.

    We have a zoo.

The people that claimed to own Buddy tried to take him back. I got angry and told them they were mistaken about my dog being their lost one. Anything that shows up starved and beaten, you aren't taking back to hut more. Buddy was starved all his bones stood out, even the ones in his paws, which were scabbing over on the pads.

He has healed up and only looks half malnourished, I can't feed him too much to quick because the vet says that it has to be done slowly the bulking him back up. so for now he gets one flintstone vitamin everyday plus normal plus half again food rations.

I love my motley assortment of critters. I can't imagine life without them.

I've had 6 cats and a dog in my life. I obtained all but one when they were infants. My current cat I helped rescue from outdoors 6 years ago when he was maybe 2-3-4 yrs old. He was just a little thin and abandoned but looked otherwise healthy. We (a friend) took him to be vetted (and fixed) and he checked out good. An obvious pet with a few minor behavior problems (not spraying) that I cleared up fast, he is remarkably cool (intelligent and affectionate), which likely helped me to do that.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

My horse had to have been abused. I had him sent to a 'whisperer' who's been working him out of his fear and trauma.. and everyone agrees that there was past shadiness. He was starved, for one thing. And someone clearly had hobbled him before---the kind of thing that is DIASTROUS if you don't know what you're doing. It's sad. I wish they could talk.
