There are many stereotypes about the industry that I work in. Sometimes they can be true but human beings are very diverse creatures and cannot be pigeon-holed into one category.

theyre good for keeping the good bacteria alive. when you take some antibiotics (such as amoxycilin) they kill all bacteria, good and bad. when you kill the good bacteria you could be more likely to get yeast infections. so, i eat foods with probiotics (probiotic) yogurt to lessen my chances of getting yeast infections, because i am prone to them.

So it wont really do anything to prevent colds?

Yes, probiotics will help with the immune system and many other things. Probiotics help prevent fungus or candida from growing out of control, which means it is great for your overall health. It helps: acne, yeast infections, jock itch, psoriasis, digestive problems, metabolism, hormones and has lots of benefits in general. Go to Curezone.com type in Probiotics and do some research. There is a lot of really good info on there that help you find the answers of all kinds of questions regarding your health. When I made my own kefir, I ate it for like two weeks and my sinuses drained big time. I have never in my life experienced such a change in my health as I did with kefir. I don't have allergies or sinus problems either, but apparently there was a whole lot of yellow mucous in there that was ready to come out. I had yellow drainage from my nose for a good week and some clear looking worms with a red vein down them come out also. Sorry for being so graphic, but it is, after all, part of natural healing. I also had something else really big happen, but it is really gross and freaky, so I will fray from details here. If you want to try a probiotic, go with Kefir or Kombucha. They are the best and the most natural.
I take probiotics every day. But the Kefir thing may be a problem for people who are lactose intolerant. I take them in capsule form, usually right along with my vitamins. They definitely keep the digestive and immune systems running smoothly.
Oh yeah, they do help prevent colds. I used to be sick ALL the time (I was a teacher so I caught everything my little germie students had) and since I started taking probiotics about 4 years ago, I might have gotten sick twice.
80% of the immune system is in the gut. They DO boost the immune system. That's why suddenly all these mainstream products are starting to add and advertise probiotics to their products. You can PM me if you want. I swear by my probiotics...since our food is all mostly dead, it lacks the necessary enzymes and good bacteria, so that's what probiotics do. You can also take a digestive enzyme separately. I'm tellin ya, you can't go wrong with probiotics.![]()
Be who you are, say what you mean. Because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter."
I have digestive issues that wreak havoc on my body in many other areas. My doctor recommended that I take a probiotic and coincidentally many other people I've talked to swear by it. I'm now a believer. I don't need to be dependent on Claritin & Pepcid AC anymore thanks to taking a quality probiotic daily. This stuff really works and it's a necessity for me.

^^^ That's probably the source of your issue. And celtic sea salt is great for sinus issues too.
I feel like the gluten/dairy-free pro-celtic sea salt girl on SW. But, well, it's effective for so many problems.

^^^ That whole thing is a horrible myth which I can't explain right now cuz i have to go to work. I'll try to remember to come back to this thread and explani. Good chance someone else here will explain though.

Cool I'd be very interested to hear it when u have time. Thanks.

I take Jarrow, a few people recommended it to me, it is the kind that has to be refrigerated & it has like 3.4 billion probiotics organisms per capsule. I bought it at whole foods & it's really not that expensive, i got a bottle of 100 capsules for like 15 or 16 bucks.

I dowse for probiotics. What works best for me is: Renew Life's "Ultimate Flora" w/ 50 billion active cultures. I used to take Jarrow but when I dowse, Renew Life tests positive for me.
Regarding dairy:
Current research emphasizes the importance of calcium retention -- rather than intake of -- to prevent bone fractures associated with osteoporosis.
Why is is that countries that consume the most dairy products also have the highest rates of osteoporosis? It's linked to milk proteins ultimately encouraging the excretion of calcium from the body.
PLUS, if your body is intolerant to something, the "risk"/intolerances outweigh the supposed benefits.
"Milk, it does a body good" is pure hype and a multi-million-dollar marketing scheme. The dairy industry benefits.
Good plant sources of calcium (readily absorpable calcium) include leafy greens. Green stuff is chock full of nutrients.

^^^ Of course you have sinus problems if you still eating dairy. And the "I can't believe it's not butter" - it's fake and will promote mucus (to protect itself) in just about everyone.
Dowsing: I use a pendulum. It looks like scrying but it's really not sorcery. Everything in the universe carries an energy. When we touch something (or even thing about it) our energy shifts. It looks like hocus pocus but it's all based on energy. Mine is a piece of metal ( used to use a crystal one) attached to a string. I hold it over the object in question -- when mine spins right, itll be something that strengthens me. When it spins left, it's not a good choice for me. If the spin is big, the ___ carried a strong evergy or vital force. For instance, it'll pretty much always spin BIG over an organic apple but will have a small spin over a jar of regular applesauce.
Sounds crazy but it actually works. They even do it in some of the armed forces.

^^^^ lol When I first learned how to dowse, my first thought was Charmed too.
Nah, it's just vibrational energy and stuff.
^^ I read tarot cards.
My sister said something interesting on the topic of divination. Clearly, the ability to divine things is real (I know I've been able to learn things about people I didn't know, which I had no way of knowing, by reading their cards), and of course one can't really attribute that to the object one uses to divine because there are a zillion ways to perform divination (dowsing, tarot, scrying, astrology, I Ching, reading head bumps, chicken entrails, tea leaves, you name it). So it must be the person doing it, the same way we use a hammer to drive in a nail--it's not the hammer's magic capability, it's us using a tool for a purpose. In divination, we must be tapping into *something* that feeds us this information. The question is....WHAT???

^^^ It's all interesting and intangible. I read the tarot too but dowsing is more my thing. But yeah, it all works!!

I've never heard of dowsing before, it does sound really interesting though.
