I'm having the same issue except I'm still crappy at my spins and cant to inverts or anything. I've been trying to figure out how to sit up there but I can't seem to do it either!

I'm sure there's a thread floating around here somewhere but my internet isn't letting me use search. I'll try to find one for us later.

For me, the pain began as unbearable, but I don't feel anything today. It used to leave massive bruises on my inner thighs...and it was a pain unlike any I've ever experienced (I have a crazy high pain tolerance). So bad. In my experience, every time you try a new trick, you have to endure the bruises before you see the fruits of your pain. Bite tha bullet.

Also a lot of it is in your head. I have noticed when doing the more difficult tricks on a new pole, if I am not as sure in my head about the whole thing it is harder. The more relaxed I am the better.

What you want is to not pressure yourself and quit trying too hard--maybe even back off it for a week and then try again but without worrying if you can do it or not. It's a flowing thing, you know?

Cross your legs and just sit until you can't take the pain anymore. There will be pain and bruises but you will get there.

How can you do inverts though if you can't even sit on the pole???

^^ Lol that's what I was wondering! I had to do a progression of sitting-->spins-->inverts.

    Sitting is an acquired trait.

Start by squatting in front of the pole, bring your knees past the pole and cross them as if you were sitting on a chair, with the pole mid thigh.

The pole is placed in the "thick" of the thigh....not the crotch.

The bottom leg then hooks by the foot around the back of the pole on the same side as the leg.

Once you get the squat sit...then do a pull up sit, then a climb sit.

Body cues....chest forward into pole, tailbone tilted back or out. The tighter you can get your knees together on the sit, the easier the hold.

.........and yes you can invert before sitting, although is not in proper order for conditioning the body to advance easier.

ahhhh I see I just learned one invert and never thought I would've been able to do that without being able to at least sit on the pole

I have found with the more toned I get, the less it hurts. I have talked to a girl on youtube who is amazing and she said it does go away after time. She told me that if you tighten your leg muscles that it helps. Can't hurt to try. =)

There are inverts that you get into from a standing position by pulling yourself up rather than going backwards into them from sitting on the pole, hence you can be upside down without having climbed the pole. I can do those a lot more easily!

Sitting sucks -- you just have to practice and toughen up. It does hurt!
