    Default Question

I've been thinking about dancing, I'm a periodontal assistant and don't make the money I would like to. I was a gymnast and love to dance so I think it would be easy for me, I just haven't gotten up the nerve to go into the clubs around here yet (plus I'm only 19 so I will have to do some homework first)...most of the clubs in OKC are ghetto as hell so if you guys know of some good places in OK, let me know.

But anyways- my question is I had four back surgeries like five years ago (mostly minor stuff), and I work out and run five and a half miles several days a week and I'm fine, but not sure how dancing would affect my back?? I'm not sure the dancing would really be the problem- but the heels might bother me. I'm only thinking about working weekends so it wouldn't be a lot of hours.

So I guess what I'm asking is how dancing affects your body? And how high are the heels you wear?

if you can run like that, then your back shouldn't be too much of a problem. Like anything else, the shoes will take some getting used to. I haven't started dancing yet,but I've been doin a lot of practice with the make up and shoes and what not,and the shoes,I'm tellin you..are hell on me. I have 7 inchers.
But they dont really hurt my back..they hurt my toes mostly.((practice good posture))
Hope that helps. and oh,you should call your local strip clubs(or the one you're interested in working at) and see if you can go take a look, and then set up an audition. Mines next friday.
    good luck,love.

There is no getting around high heels being bad for your back but there are things you can do to minimize the damage.

Have a couple of different heel heights to change it up.
Never hyper extend your knees (always have them slightly bent) which is easy to do when leaning on guys lap dancing.
Watch your posture, especially if you sit in their laps.
When taking breaks in the dressing room take off your shoes and put your feet up.
Get body work from a good professional like a chiropractor or a massage therapist, who knows corrective work

And just so you know the trick to walking in high heels is your weight should be on the ball of your foot or you big toe(just like walking on your tip toes) that gives you more control than when heel, ball, toe as you do when running and such.
