Default Palin bans reporters from meetings...

    Wow. Seriously?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080923/.../palin_leaders

NEW YORK - Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has not held a press conference in nearly four weeks of campaigning, on Tuesday banned reporters from her first meetings with world leaders, allowing access only to photographers and a television crew.

CNN, which was providing the television coverage for news organizations, decided to pull its TV crew, effectively denying Palin the high visibility she had sought.

Palin planned to meet Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe in New York on Tuesday as the United Nations General Assembly convenes this week. She also was expected to meet with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Those sessions and meetings scheduled for Wednesday are part of the Republican campaign's effort to give Palin experience in foreign affairs. She has never met a foreign head of state and first traveled outside North America just last year.

The campaign told the TV producer, print and wire reporters in the press pool that follows the Alaska governor that they would not be admitted with the photographers and camera crew taken in to photograph the meetings. At least two news organizations, including The Associated Press, objected and were told that the decision was not subject to discussion...

Who's ready for 4 more years of Republican incompetence and bullying?

You know what I don't understand? How is MEETING a few heads of state going to increase her foreign affair resume? JFC why not just tell everybody she stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I can't wait to read feedback from bem41, Melonie, et al...

Palin's behavior makes sense if you accept the findings of a study published in the journal Perspectives on Psychological Science this month. The study maps regional clusters of personality traits, then overlays state-by-state data on crime, health and economic development in search of correlations.

Alaskans were ranked near the bottom for Extraversion (49th), Agreeableness (51st), Conscientiousness (51st) and Openness (49th). On the other hand, they weren't considered very neurotic (47th)...

Those responses will simply be excuses because of "THE LIBERAL MEDIA" and what not. Those guys always have an excuse about why these things are OK for Palin to do while simultaneously blaming Obama for it.

When was Obama's last press conference?

I mean one where he just stood up there and took questions from anyone who asked.

In truth, given the current attitudes of most McCain / Palin supporters and to some extent independent voters about mainstream US media treatment of Palin and her family, it really won't matter if AP and CNN don't get any Palin sound bytes to take out of context or any video footage for Saturday Night Live to parody ! Ultimately, if the NY Times, MSNBC etc. decide to boycott coverage of Palin, it will probably HELP her more than hurt her ! You can count on the fact that the NY Post and FOX will report on her in any case, helping their own ratings in the process.

Ummm...today? And before that? Friday (see paragraph 13). How about John McCain? What? 40 DAYS (see paragraph 6)! And Palin? Well we all know about that. So, you were saying?

McCain/Palin supporters will vote that ticket regardless of all her known and perceived inadequacies and shall the lunatics that consider redstate.com and worldnutdaily objective. However for you to think any self respecting independents would vote for that ticket because of perceived mistreatment of Palin and her family by the mainstream media is bad case of conservative self delusion. It is known as then main stream because it is the most read/seen/listened to media in the country and railing against it may help with your base but it will not win you any independents or democrats.

(snip)"A Rasmussen Reports poll on September 4th reports that of unaffiliated voters, 49% think the news media is trying to hurt Palin while 32% think the media is unbiased and 5% think the media is trying to help her. The good news is that more people (24%) are more likely to vote for Palin than vote against her (19%) due to this disgusting attack. And, in the same poll, it is found that 49% believe that the media is trying to help Obama while only 14% believe the media is trying to help McCain. Obama has tried to distance himself from the character assassination, and even aides of Hillary Clinton have criticized the media for its sexist tone. In other words, America is not blind. Americans see these attacks against Palin as disgusting and, on balance, they are more likely to vote for her as a result."(snip)

It would appear that 24% of independents are not 'self-respecting' versus 19% who are !

Where does your thinking begin/end in relation to your "(snip)" captions, Melonie?
Are you extrapolating that Americans are voting for/against the media versus for/against the candidates...???

As for your ally, bem401, he's probably hoping fervently for another four years of Republican rectitude.

Sorry, given how close we are to the election, that data is already outdated (3 weeks is a lifetime at this point of the election).

For many conservatives, telling the truth about Palin and pointing out her lies is considered a "disgusting attack". Now that Americans are starting to learn more about her, her favorability ratings are in a free-fall.

Whatever. Every time someone has some kind of evidence, you dismiss it as liberal media bias. So you're telling me that they are lying about him giving press conferences? Why? Why wouldn't they say speeches if that's what he did? Why would they say PRESS CONFERENCE? What would they have to gain? Just so I could come post these things to refute you (once again)?

ETA: Even FOX NEWS says "press conference":
"Obama began debate preparations Tuesday in Florida. He held one press conference to discuss ongoing Capitol Hill negotiations over the Wall Street bailout package but is expected to hunker down to rehearse for three days straight."

No way is FOX News part of the liberal media so.........once again, YOU WERE SAYING???

Political leanings aside, when a candidate speaks out and doesn't field questions, it is actually a speech. When that same person fields questions from the media, or the public, it is called a press conference.

By your ( and the post and MSNBC's) definition, all these candidates give several press conferences a day.

You say Obama gave a press conference yesterday because he had comments to make and McCain hasn't given one in 40 days because he hasn't been fielding questions. Why don't we just apply the same standards to both candidates?

This is pretty obvious to me....

She is learning, taking a crash course, and the party and she don't want the public to know how ignorant she is about nations, leaders, and world affairs. She has to learn something due to her upcoming debate with Biden. And she has very little time to do this. The Rep party has been shielding her from embarassment while they try to teach this bush baby about how to respond to the press and the public. After all, the Reps have stakes their reputation on this one.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

I am not a big supporter of McCain/Palin, but they are certainly the far lesser of two evils, the other being Obama/Biden..
