Default How old is to OLD for the Juniors Dept?

I was doing my usual earlier today, checking out macys.com I usually only shop in the junior section when I go to malls. Lately, I've noticed when I check online sites, their "junior" section just doesn't look "sexy" enough for me..

I'm 25, and by no means do I consider myself old, BUT I guess I just don't want to be that older woman who still thinks she looks hot when she's not...

    Ok, I"m rambling now..thoughts/opinions?

I *sometimes* fit into Juniors sizes- but a lot of the clothing is cut for teens, not curvy petite women. I also find the fashion trends for Juniors to be often yucky or too "loud."

Since I'm almost out of my 20s now, I just cherrypick "Ladies" fashions out of the Petite sized collections. (It does work, people treat me better when I'm dressed my age or even looking "older" than that. This matters when you're five feet tall.) It depends on the vendor as to how "dorky" the clothing looks.

I'm 5'1, and I agree with Bianca O'Blivion on buying petite women's tops. I refuse to buy women's jeans. My waist is too big for the petite sized jeans, and the legs are too baggy. I don't want to get them tailored when I can get a size 7 in the juniors dept. and they almost always fit. I am 23, and I do still wear juniors shirts just when I'm not going to be somewhere where I need to be taken serious.

I'm gonna say that you are never too old. Only because the normal "womens" departments are Frump Central.

I'm 5'0, so yes, I'm so with you on dressing and treatment. I cannot dress juvenile EVER. But the higher end Junior wear is for people in their tweens to whenever IMO. Things like Wet Seal do not count as good Jrs. wear. Oh I dunno. I shop at boutiques and vintage/used/whatever stores. And online.

I wear what's flattering on me and appropriate.

I need to shop shopping in the juniors section because the clothes make me feel fat. It took me a long time to figure out my jean size is 6/7, not 11.

I am 30 and still shop the juniors dept. Today I was in Kohls and wandered over to the women's section just to make sure actually there was nothing I was missing...nope were good. Even my 55 year old MIL shops the junior's dept. (she makes sure everyone knows about it too though )

I still like the Juniors department and I get a ton of clothes at wet seal, forever 21, and Charlotte Russe.

I like the stuff because I think it's cheap, cute and who cares if it falls apart after three washes, it was only 15 dollars. LOL.

Oh and I'm 26. My mom actually buys jeans at wet seal too altho not tops or anything. So I guess you can never be too old

I think I'll always shop Juniors, LOL. Regular womens sections stuff usually is really ugly. Most of my clothes do look pretty sophisticated too. I try to buy plainer clothes (nothing with corny labels all over them), plain jeans not that shit with flowers and hearts stitched everywhere, and black pants. I like Guess stuff, and if I'm tryin to inject a little fance in my life I'll go for Bebe. Also Cache is great for hot grown-up stuff, but its mad expensive.

I also hate looking young so I feel your pain. I enjoy being older much more than I did being a teenager (I'm almost 24!) I also avoid the teeny-boppin brands like Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle at ALL costs LOL.

WEt SEal, for me, is only OK when it's paired with high quality stuff (jeans, shoes, bag, jewelery). When at outfit looks really cheap, that's what makes me look juvenile and I get to much attention from low-class dudes.

I don't think you're ever too old to shop at the juniors department as long as you can still fit into them, i don't see a problem.

...When 'the look' doesn't 'grab' you anymore. I still wear juniors. I'm 5 ft tall and weigh about 100lbs - 105lbs now. Most petite collections scream 'granny' to me, and that look doesn't work.

When I wander into the Women's section, I go running back to Juniors! LOL.

I my experience, the higher end stores like Bloomingdales and Neimans have gorgeous clothing no matter what age- from baby to blue hair.

I don't find that to be true in stores like Dillards, Hechts, Belk. Thankfully I should be able to afford an expensive wardrobe from Bloomies and Saks by the time I'm in my late 30s/40s.

I still shop in the jr section a lot. Most "women's" sections are waaaayyy too old for me.

All my jeans are generally from Macy's junior department, I'd say the rest of my going out clothes and professional business clothes are a good mixture of womens/juniors, but mostly juniors.

And whoever mentioned Kohl's ....their women's section just plain scares the shit out of me. I can usually find some okay clothes in any other women's section....Kohl's was made for 90 year olds, IMO.

I'm 25 too. Juniors is the only place I shop in Macy's. I'm with Cutey though, I stay away from clothes with mad labels. Guess is really good for tops and stuff. Baby Phat is okay I just don't like the quality of some of the clothes.

I realized I was getting old when I went into the juniors department and everything looks "too young" for me. This happened gradually over the last two years. But the womens section is typically too old. Im like stuck in the middle. Wheres the section for me?! I have to search and search and accessorize a certain way to look my age and feel comfortable in clothes.

Rather than shop in the Juniors department, I shop at stores like Express, H &M, Banana Republic, Gap, etc. You can find the trendy stuff, but you don't end up looking like someone who is desperately clinging to her college years.

I couldn't tell you the last time I shopped in the Misses or Women's section of a store. They usually have frumpy crap in those areas and way too young looking stuff in the Juniors area (Kohl's is a good example of this).

I'm 22 and I even shop the boys section of Old Navy for jackets, Tee shirts, stuff like that. I don't do Juniors girls that often because sometimes the stuff seems like it's got a bunch of propaganda on it. But I don't like shopping in the petite women's sections because that stuff fits me so WEIRD. I look goofy.

Pushin 40 here and still wear a kids size 10....the pants end up as capris, but at least the waist and hip fits!!!

5'3"...108lbs with 6lbs of boobs, leaves me with a 23 " waist and 29" hips....I figure I wont ever find pants that fit!

Some of the italian brands and a few of the new "Junior Treadsetter" make a 00 or a 24...but that is the smallest I have found!

I will admit I am sick of hearing..."Are you looking for something for your daughter?"

I want to say...."NO Dammit...its for me! Cant you tell I am trapped in a 10yr olds body??"

As long I like how the stuff looks, and it fits (always important), I shop there. I don't think there is an age, so much as a look, and you'll know when you hit it.
