Default ah crap, my pole doesn't fit :(

I moved into a new apartment today that is suppossed to have 8' ceiling but really they are like 7'11.75." Ghey. So I really love my PS stage/pole, i actually treat it more like a piece of furniture than an exercise tool. It is the centerpice of my living room. But it doesn't fit anywhere because of the ceilings. Even digging into the carpet I can't get it straight...the ceiling wants it to be all asymmetrical. I don't think I can survive without a big, long chunk of stainless steel in my life so I'm going to get my pole fix from a X-pole or a lilminx.

That being said I have some Q's for lilminx/x-pole owners and users:

1.Lilminx says they can cut the pole below 8'....has anyone had this done? Is it still adjustable to your ceiling height or is it cut to fit your ceiling exactly?
2.I read lil minx poles also require a bolt screwed into a joist.....is this used for ALL poles or does that exclude the fully removable pole?
3.How would you compare the lilminx powder poles to brass? grips better?

4.How would you compare X-poles titanium gold pole to a brass pole? which grips better?

My PS pole is stainless steal and I love it for the learning challenges and crazy spins but when I move in a year (of course I will move so I can reserect it!) I will have 2 stainless poles. I'm thinking I might want to buy another material to play and learn on.

    Thanks in advance, ladies

Why would you not just get the stage pole cut to fit your room????

Both PS and X can be reduced in size to 6'...simply by using different extension pieces.

They DO NOT require bolts...the Lilmynx does.

Brass grips better than any material
Titanium is slightly better than Stainless, but chips and wears down, as it is a coating.
Chrome....STAY AWAY FROM, it chips off.

just go to home depot or lowes...most home improvement stores have pipe cutters (just tell them what it is and they'll probably do it for free! lol even if not, it's only a few bucks at the most)...hell, you could just get your own pipe cutter, it'll take you all of a few minutes to do it. I'd cut the top of the pole by about 2-3 inches, then put the cap back on the top. if you don't cut it short enough, you wont be able to raise it up because of the angle.

Are X-Pole made from chrome or titanium? I just got a used one from Ebay and I noticed some slight peeling near the bottom of the main pole A section. I paid less than $200 including shipping so I wasn't expecting a perfect pole but I don;t want it to get worse either.

Is there anything that can be done to slow down or prevent future peeling or chips?

I also have a PS pole/stage with a stainless spinning pole so this X- Pole is just secondary pole I got for the purpose of doing more floor work and to have a bit more pole to work with when I feel like it. I figure I can just replace the section that is peeling if it becomes a problem.

    X pole come in titanium.

They do NOT sell parts or pieces...the entire pole comes from Asia, so it all or nothing! Unless you find someone selling used pieces...replacing parts is not an option.

As for preventing more peeling....sorry cant help!

I self cut my lilmynx and it still works great almost 2 years later. I'd just go have yours cut at home depot though.

A new carry bag, those metal stick things to help tighten/untighten the pole, and then the extension I needed.

This was almost two years ago, btw.

Guess this is news to me...or they dont deal with Canadian or US girls!

I work at a club teaching that has an X...they have contacted both UK and US Xpole to get replacement parts. They were told that they would have to order an entire new pole, as they do NOT sell replacement parts...just extensions.

also 2 of my students have xpoles and also requested replacement parts (poles come undone when you spin). They too, were told no replacement parts, just cases and extensions.

Both were told Xpoles were made in China, and shipped directly to UK and US. They could not order pieces, only entire poles!

Both bought PS poles to replace the X's!

Now I am confused! I have sent Stacy in UK an email...but she wont answer. I have also sent Kimora in US an email...but again....NO ONE will answer me!

I am noticing the whole coming unscrewed thing while doing spins in static mode too Do multi piece PS poles do that as well?

No..PS poles do NOT come undone during static mode.

the reason is that PS locks it's spin mechanism from the floor plate not the pole itself.

as long as you have the bolt on the threadrod spun completely down, this will never happen.

i thought xpoles were the best type of poles to have....but i'm reading this and thinking twice...if they are falling apart....

what is the best pole to get for a reasonable price (no more than $350)

Alena, I'm really surprised that Kimara didn't answer you as she is usually very prompt and helpful.

That's odd that you knwo people who've been told by US Xpole that they don't sell replacement parts as I've gotten them for customers who had a problem but then it's only happened once or twice so maybe they are very limited.

Xpole is a great pole and holds up...they don't fall apart. Every product has it's limits and if you buy one used you don't know how it was cared for. I own 11 xpoles and only had one that ever peeled on one section.

If you wish to extend the use of the section that is peeling, I'd recommend some clear nail polish over the edges where it's peeling up.

However, cleaning poles with the wrong products can damage the surface, or allowing them to get banged up when you take them down can cause them to chip.
