Default McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

Yep. McCain wants to postpone the 1st presidential debate as well as the VP debate because of the economic problem's we're having. I'm waiting to hear the spin from Bem and them on this one. I really want to know how they can make this:

    A. The right thing for McCain to do

    B. Democrats' fault in general

    C. Obama's fault specifically.

It makes sense to deal with this problem in as timely a manner is possible given the warnings from the "experts". As with any head-to-head battle, there is a fair amount of gamesmanship involved and a good portion of this is gamesmanship on McCain's part.

I don't know if it will make much difference, postponing the debate a few days or even weeks. There is still plenty of time to reschedule it, but it makes McCain look more like the leader, reaching across the aisle and all that stuff. obama looks bad when he says stuf like " call me if you need me". That doesn't seem to me to be indicative of leadership. And he can't accuse McCain of dodging the debate because McCain has been advocating for more of them and obama has been against it.

McCain's next move should be to start naming names on both sides of the aisle of people who profited from the corruption. As of now, this seems to be mostly a Democratic problem. There are more of them who seem to be in this pretty deep. The Democratic Congress hasn't pressed for hearings because they are likely to get hurt more by hearings than will the Republicans.

    Bem,
I saw this totally differently. I thought Obama looked like more of a leader wanting to debate. Now is the perfect time because everyone's ears are open and people are concerned about the economy. We want to know what our future leader intends to do with this mess.

McCain ducking out looks cowardly to me. He's already said in the past that economics wasn't his strength. I guess he wasn't lying!

McCain is full of it....He could have swapped the debates and had Sarah Palin debate Joe Biden....oh wait...she needs special circumstances too.

A President should be able to handle more than one thing at a time so McCain should show up for the debate.

As someone posted yesterday, McCain will not have as much egg on his face if he can postpone the debates until after a solution for the economy is in motion....weak

Ahmeerah, the debate this Friday was supposed to be confined to foreign policy, (at Obama's request, I might add).

McCain comes across as looking like more of a "take charge guy" by doing this. He can't be accused of dodging the debate because he has requested more face-to-face time with Obama all along.

Obama comes across as wanting to spend more time talking and less time acting, something he is often accused of.

Of course the Libs are going to spin it that way. McCain outmaneuvered Obama here. At least give him credit for that. Obama wanted to issue a joint statement, which is something you do when you don't want to act. McCain went one further and seems to be ready to act.

I think it all looks like political maneurvering, on behalf of both of them. Neither one can separate from the campaign. Every move they make is politically motivated and carefully plotted.

Wow...so our economy went to hell RIGHT as the debates came up? Call me crazy,bu I'm pretty sure the economy has been tanking for years. But NOW he wants to do something about it?? Yeah ok....as soon as his interviews(with people he wont have to answer questions he doesnt like) and Sarahs autograph signing trips are done,he's get right on fixing it. I feel so much better now....

John McCain postponing his campaign and wanting to postpone the debates is almost laughable....His VP pick, Sarah Palin, doesn't even have the ability to step up and handle his campaign as she should have.

I think he should cancel. Let's have some town hall style meetings instead, or bring in Ron Paul or Bob Barr.

I guess his blackberry(invented by McCain) doesn't get any reception in Mississippi so he needs to physically be in Washington to stay on top of the crisis.

McCain hardly even spoke during the meetings.

Meanwhile McCain, who dramatically announced Wednesday that he was suspending his campaign to deal with the economic crisis, stayed silent for most of the session and spoke only briefly to voice general principles for a rescue plan.

Perhaps he can start with his staff member who was Fannie Mae's head of lobbying.

How we went from McCain and the fundamentals of the economy are strong to he can't show up for a debate because he needs ride into Washington and save us from financial disaster is crazy.

The idea there are still Americans left who think McCain/Palin can do anything to make America a better - more positive place is disturbing. They don't even have personal skills to bring people together much less anything else. I'm so tired of people waiting until life sucks and we are in a crisis to look for solutions.

I lose more and more respect for McCain each day...he sure has sold himself out.

Oh good! That means that they reached a deal and the crisis has been averted. I was worried for a while but that makes me feel better.

It's good that he's going. He must have realized it was a transparently bullshit move on his part.

The ONLY thing a senator would be able to do to help the economy at a time like this would be to vote, which... doesn't exactly take enough time out of his day to prevent him from debating Obama.

As a voter, I would rather see the two debate economic strategies now rather than slip off mysteriously to do bullshit background "work."

that, and the (R) Governor of Mississippi said last night that a debate was going to happen w/ or without McCain since the state spent about $5-$6 million dollars on setting this up.

I'm exctied about the debates tonight!

And Obama should be more concerned with his CURRENT JOB, than worrying about his potential future maybe job.

The debates don't mean shit if this country goes belly up and shit goes south and we don't even have homes to watch the debates from.

They are BOTH senators, let them do their CURRENT jobs, then worry about campaigning for their future jobs later.
