    Blah! Chicago Peeps Help!

I "retired" from dancing last year and have held normal jobs, I was a photographer and now I'm in retail on my way up the ladder...Though it's a very tall ladder and I just moved back to Chicago. I've had my itches to dance again for old times sake, but have avoided the actual urge.

This week my paycheck was literally 430 dollars for two weeks of work, I honestly thought it was a mistake because I felt I had worked more hours than 50, I worked 56 hours and I have 30 bucks after paying rent and I still haven't bought food. Thus, I'm totally in a state of panic. I went to a club and applied, got hired and I start Monday...

I did it merely because I have no money and it won't be until October 10th that I get another pay check. I'm nervous and I totally don't have my shoes or any of my clothes anymore and I really don't know what I'm going to do as in getting/borrowing some since most of my dancer friends haven't talked to me since I got married.

Also, my hubs doesn't approve, but he doesn't have a job and if I don't do something we're going to be homeless within a matter of two months.

I've also had bad luck this year with getting my debit card stolen and charged up over 400 dollars which is still not resolved, hence more crap!

I just need some advice or if anyone is Chicago could possibly let me know here there's a discount store or something, I'm seriously beginning to think I'm going to show up monday bare foot and in undies! LOL!

I would suggest going on snaz75.com They have a clearance section w/ stuff @ $2.99! Plus, we get 20% discount by putting "stripperweb" into checkout box.

Ok, I'm totally not gonna rag on your hubby here, but since you through this tidbit out, I had to bite. I can't STAND when men wanna tell you what they do/don't approve when it comes to dancing but he can't even cover the bills!

    Why isn't he working?

You gotta pay for him too while he sits on his ass doing nothing except bitch about how you actually go out and do something? What do you see in him? Why doesn't he have the balls to be taking on the essential responsibility of providing for you, his wife? Sorry, but I have nothing nice to say about these types of men.

Hey, it's E here, I somehow managed to get locked out of my own account BOO!

It's a hard situation, for me personally because I really don't have any money and everywhere I looked in my area is too expensive. I'm thinking I might have to wait because I don't have any of my old gear because I sold it when I quit, which now I am totally kicking myself in the head for! I had a friend that was going to loan me stuff for my first night, but I can't get a hold of her...SO I feel rather pathetic, I know I could get up there and make that money but I have NO supplies and I'm supposed to start tomorrow, which I am probably going to have to call and post pone until I get my pay check (Oct 10th).

I had told the manager who hired me that I didn't have any of my own gear anymore and asked if they had an instore shop like some due that will loan you pieces and you pay for them after your shift ends (my first club had this)...But they don't have a shop for the girls and he said if I couldn't get any gear by Monday to just call and reschedule, but I still feel that it's so unprofessional on my part to be such a dunce...I'm probably beating myself up over nothing, but I just hate making the wrong impression.

As for the hubs, that too is a hard one. He's unemployed but gets benefits, though those benefits are running out next month and he doesn't have another job lined up and he's just now looking for a new one...which admittedly is really frustrating and when I had originally told him I was going to briefly go back to the clubs there was a huge fight about it mainly because he says I'm going to party all the time and lose sight of reality. As long as I had dated him and even when I married him I was a dancer, I NEVER had a day job and he NEVER had a problem with it then. So I am unsure as to why it made him so entirely mad other than its because we're married? He's not open to talking about it either and I really don't want to argue about it.

I'm full of anxiety aaaaahhhhhh! I'm probably putting too much pressure on myself, it's just that as I had planned this I was counting on having more money so I could get proper attire and not have to scramble like this, but my check was unusually short (which my manager says she is going to get it fixed to match my hours), but even that won't be posted until my next check. All I wanna do is dance!

What area of Chicago? I used to shop in several dancer speciality stores. My one friend used to buy several outfits from Frederick's, Victoria Secrets and (don't laugh), Wal-Mart. There was a nice store in Indiana (because Indiana had many dancers) but not sure they are still there. My friend bought several pairs of boots and shoes at Payless.

What club? Even though Chicago isn't a good area for clubs (especially now since so many have closed in the last few years), it's still better than retail. I also retired a few years ago, but after losing my "corporate" job a few months ago I am likely to go back. Retail sucks, and they rip you off when it comes to money. Even in my slow weeks at clubs, I still made more than 215 a week.

It's down town, VIPs in off of North and Clybourn...I sat in the club twice and watched the girls and clientelle. Seemed alright, but at this point I'm pretty much flat out with out gear. It's probably a sign I shouldn't go back, like seriously all things I've tried have not worked so I'm probably going to just phone my mother, LOL. I shall have to wait it out.

Retail really is a rip off too, I work so hard and so much and I feel like I'm just getting used, though the main reason why I like retail is that I'm good at it and it's easy work. I'd say that dancing isn't really what I'm good at, as in I can dance really well but all my money is made on pure luck...I've always had the problem of being in the mood to work and it greatly affected my success. I'm not a natural stripper as they say, but I wish I could be LOL...

And my friend told me I shouldn't be so hasty, esp since the club she's at is drowning. The market is really low and most of it's for extra girls.

I truly miss the glory days and there is no recreating that.

I don't know of any discount stores but there is Lovers Lane and Studio 21 (located in Addison on Lake Street). LL has alot of shoes and there are quite a few locations throughout Chicagoland. There used to be a place downtown called Hot Threads which had some clubwear and some good sales but I am not sure if it still around. You can also try Wal Mart for the actual clothes as well as regular stores if you want a sexy cocktail dress - alot of places are having good dress sales now. Check out local malls as you'd be suprised at the 'normal' clothing...looks alot like dancewear sometimes. There is also Craigslist, but I have never tried to buy any stripper gear off of that.

As far as clothes you need (depending on the club of course) you just need one outfit to start with, shoes and a thong/boy shorts.

I wish you luck - and as far as your hubby, well I am just going to say that if he doesn't want you stripping he needs to get the hell of off his ass. Tell him to do day labor if that's what it takes to help out.

go to tj maxx on state st, and get a bra/boyshort set for seriously like $7.

im willing to bet someone will let you borrow shoes once you get there, or there will be a pair in the lost and found.
take a pair of the highest heels you have just in case. since its your first night, management will prob let you get away with it. otherwise they will pull rank, and get you a pair from someone.

i think you should try to get a pay day advance, since you are legally employed.

if you come into some money, milwaukee st. (blue line, get off at division) has 3 stripper stores. diana's, sunny's, and another one, and a hair store that sells $15 outfits in packages.
the shoes are often on clearance for like $30
    good luck!

So true. I have friends still dancing who started when I did and they miss the 90's. Back then a clean girl could (and did) make a lot of money. I remember when a club I worked in prohibited even touching the legs. That same club now offers full contact grind dances. Studio 21 was one of the stores I was thinking of. (bought a nice gown there when I worked at a gown club).

The pay day advance is still a really good idea, though my credit is terrible but I will see about it tomorrow, because I honestly need to do something. I know about Milwaukee Street, I just wasn't sure it there were more places. I really appreciate the advice, I've been freaking out. Normally, the clubs have gear or the house mom would run a mini stripper gear store...But this one is really different. It reminds me if The Admiral and Heavenly Bodies had an awkward love child...which a part of my anxiety also stems from not being certain of the money value at the club. I was there twice but on a weekend, so it was busy but it looks like a tough hustle as there is no contact whatsoever, not even your own hands on the persons shoulders when dancing, you can't even touch your boobs when you dance.

Plan on spending $70 to $100. I think they have rules about shoes too.
I believe you still have to buy their brand of undies when you get to work. And latex to cover your nipples.

I have a lot of extra dresses and gowns, but I don't know how I could share them with you, aside from the fact that we may live ten minutes away from eachother?

I talked to them today about rescheduling and it's looking to be more of an investment than I imagined because they want you to have so much stuff right off the bat, so I'm reconsidering for now. I really appreciate everyone's advice, but it just doesn't seem like the right week, probably after I get paid...I looked into the payday advance but the interest is high/fees.

Also, my friends who dance have warned me against Chicago clubs too. They said if I was going to dance again, I should go to Florida! Scariness...

Why did they warn you about Chicago clubs? That's weird, Florida is known for being a terrible place to dance

Hey. I know many girls that just shop at Discovery for a few things to wear or cut. But be careful working at VIP's. I know girls that worked there and it was too strict for them. Full bottom underwear, tattoos covered with make up latex, long gowns. Stuff like that. And it is a bit difficult at times I hear. But none the less good luck!! Also you could try some places in Boys Town, they have lots of stuff!

Well I live in florida and there are decent places to still make money here without extras. That being said Ive traveled in to work at vips consitintley since 97. Its definitely worth it. If you know how to hustle and sell champagne rooms its worth it to invest in a gown to work. They give you latex and the shorts are 15 bucks. Go to flirt catalogs website and look for the gowns that say sale. They are pre made mon de plume gowns that usually take 4-6 weeks to make and get. Dont get any neon ,see thru or ones that show your stomache. You should be able to find one for 60-80. That will get you started and you can ger shoes for 40. Couldnt you charge the stuff so you could get started. Work a week in the same gown and when the costume lady comes in buy another one. She wasnt that expensive and her stuff is approved to wear there. Start during a convention and you will be fine.

Chicago clubs in the current time, being the customers aren't spending as much as last year and the extras are terrible. Which, when I left that club it was plummeting both in clients and morale via forearm. It was a great club and I deem it better than any I've worked, but times are a changing. Also, my other friends stopped dancing not too long ago and they also reported top hustlers that quit and moved to Florida or other parts like Vegas, which could be a coincidence but it doesn't really seem likely.

From what I witnessed at VIPs, the clientèle seemed of spenders, but I really didn't see a whole lot going into CR the entire night I was there. My friend who works there now says it's a dismal living, barely 300 a night but at least something and she has a body like mine, natural and small boobs. These girls that work there already are all large breasted, which makes sense for being a topless club. Hence more for my apprehension.

I'm taking a deep breath and I took more hours at work this week, so I should have a banging check next week in which I think I'm going to plan for my return one way or another.

Again I really appreciate everyone responding, I felt seriously alone on this!

Yeah things in Chicago are pretty slow, especially compared to last year. You can still make money here being clean, its just more difficult.
I've been wanting to dance in Florida, I'm there a few times a year. If you do know of any good clubs that are clean with good $$ potential, let me know! (you too michelle11)

Vips is best during conventions. I was there last year for the radiology one and another one. I maygo for the radiology one again becauseI have a customer who is a radiologist who comes to see me and thats the only time I see him since I live in florida and he new york so he makes it worth my while. I would say customer count is about half of what it was years ago but if you look good and hustle you can still make money! Then again I travel all over the country and do about the same everywere but I hustle. Babygirlkylie if you want to pm me about florida clubs I will five you info. I dont want to derail the thread or listen to a bunch of girls chime in who are always bitching about how bad, extras ridden florida is but if you read their other posts they say that about everywere they work ie other states and such.

Chicago clubs are really best during conventions as well, I just can't remember when the convention season starts? Anyone know? I think it's in late fall until Christmas, but I can never remember.

I'm doing some modeling jobs on Saturday for pay, yay, and I think I will probably buy the bare basics, though I don't think I'm going back to VIPs. In my desperation I really discarded my sense, because I re-read the orientation manual they gave me and it's really really obscenely strict. I don't mind the no touching concept but you can't even touch their shoulders in a dance or lean a leg on them, it's not like your naked because if you lifted your leg in their spanks you'd see only spanks. I'm the type of person that doesn't mind contact as long as they aren't grabbing at my parts.

I'm going to search around for a bit, I know there's other clubs I just don't know how reputable they are. I'd like to work at the Admiral again, but all my friends quit there and say it's not a good money making place anymore.

I hear Florida has more contact, but it does depend on where you go. My one friend is moving there because she made 7,000 in one week and she's no contact and flat chested. There's just more rich people there I guess, I'm not really sure.

The admiral is totally no contact as well, it's just nude. It's pretty strict as well.

Also at VIPS if you're short (like me) you can rest your hands on their shoulders if you cant reach the back of their chair while you are dancing (to lean over or whatever). Also, unless stuff has changed a ton since I last worked there, not everybody has huge boobs.

I worked at the Admiral and it really isn't that strict in comparison, of course there is always the do and don'ts but that is usually on the floor table dances, minimal contact though not regulated. In the CR it's different, it's pretty much what you feel comfortable with which in everyone's mind is something different. The house fees are more reasonable, there isn't 20 percent of this and 10% if you make this much type of thing which is more of a gray area at VIPs. I just like for things to be cut and dry when it comes to tipping out and paying house. I do however like the concept of VIPs as they pay you hourly for your work and seem more flexible on paying house, also they have six free days of house when you first are hired. I just don't think they have a good sell as the spanks are not attractive, the latex is weird to me, and I just don't see why guys would want to spend huge amounts of money there; besides they have liquor. I know it's probably a good club for hard hustlers, but I'm not a hard hustler. I'm a medium to light weight hustler in general and I find hard hustles just fizzle me out super fast.

When I worked at the Admiral we'd have a ton of spenders come in from VIPs stating how disappointed they were by just the spanks and they didn't mind we didn't sell liquor due to just that fact. But again, it's probably each to their own type of thing.

When I was interviewed at VIPs all the girls on that particular shift were busty whether god given or earned.

    Hmm...

I used to work at the A too and I remember them taking a sizable chunk from your dances and the housefee was about 100, but were talking 2005 so things may have changed since...

As for the VIP I was under the impression that it was no contact, the only difference was you could "show pink" but that may have been me being niave

Yeah when I worked at VIP I had A cups and I did very very well there....I agree at the end of the day, not even including house fee they rob half your money since most of your money is funny money

Have you thought of scores even though its a drive?
