    Default Celexa and lamictal

Just curious I was prescribed these meds yesterday by my pych (details in my Ladies Only thread)and I just wanted to know if anyone has taken these meds, and if so were there any b ad side effects (especially weight gain). I have bad anxiety when it comes to meds, and I'm hesitant to start taking these; so I just wanted to know if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with these.

I take Celexa (just started on the generic since they are $4/prescription @ Walmart) and so far so good. It doesn't make me numb to everything..but I believe it's enough medicine that I'm still able to function and have feelings.

^Girl yes, my doc was like, 'well if you want a cheaper alternative to the lexapro, I can put you on the generic celexa and it's $4 at walmart."

Ummm hell yeah I want the $4 meds lol.. I've been taking the Celexa for about 4 months or so. So far, so good...I didn't have any sideeffects. but, I get terrible withdrawls (headaches, super depressed) if I go to many days without taking my meds.

I have taken celexa - only side effect was after a few years. The doc kept me on even when I didn't need it any more and it actually made me bi-polar rapid cycler. So they put me on lamictal. Great med however the side effect is that rash that can be deadly and I started to get it. It typically shows up after about a month and you will notice things like swelling in your hands and face and boobs only. Then a slight but annoying rash will appear. If anything like that happens, watch out and switch. Lamictal is a very fussy drug but if you aren't allergic, it is fabulous for depression or bipolar. Celexa is extremely difficult to get off if you have been on for awhile -head aches, tummy aches, etc.

Celexa is really great when I first started but it is a drug that will correct problems in your head so you don't have to take it forever.

I was on both for a bit felt great! Just take precautions, read about drug interactions. Advil will actually cause your blood not to clot when taking both. Stay away from grapefruit by all means - it intensifies the drugs. If you are taking multivitamins, look at the amount of choline and vitamin D. Choline can trigger depression and too much vitamin d will actually make you rapid cycle.

If you drink on both drugs you will be wacked out of your head by one drink and the have twice of a bad headache then normal.

Take the meds at the same time everyday no matter what and get plenty of sleep. This alone will help your head. You will probably sleep extremely well once on both however you will have vivid dreams and wake up with drool

I am the same way when it comes to taking drugs but they will help. Don't scared, just monitor yourself. These drugs won't hurt you. I know I can be a hypocondriac (sp?) but be careful. Many of these fears will go away with time.

You might actually loose weight on them because you will become more aware of yourself - instead of going nuts due to problems.

When I was on both, I made sure to write a diary and really get things out. I anaylzed my feelings and everything in my life. These drugs won't cure, they simply help you get a clear head so you can change for the better. Use this time to really focus on life and how to get healthy and happy. You will find it. It just takes time.

Good luck! If you have any other questions about the drugs, I had done so much research, PM me
