I'm working on an art project and right now I am trying to find images on the web of women and their facial expressions during orgasm. (haha, sounds strange, i know) and i am curious about the typical porn face that women make. I could be way off, but it seems like this face is way exaggerated to emphasis taboo and fantasy. It's a face that says, "what I am doing is bad and I am a bad girl." Sometimes these faces just look menacing and scary, some Kali nature subdued by the submission to male fantasy.
I notice that when I dance, I don't really make faces. I mostly laugh and smile and tease, but I never pulled off this scary, sexy face I've seen girls making on stage. I've seen girls make faces I found horrifying and strange, not sexy at all. I make a whole gamut of faces during sex, but at my most natural, I think my face is one of relaxed breathing, softness, vulnerability, at times seemingly painful. I once read a quote by a man telling a researcher why he watched porn and he said he disagreed that most men have a taste for seeing women demeaned. He said he often found himself waiting for brief glimpses of real intimacy between the actors and these brief moments turned him on most. Now, I don't know if I agree that most men wait for these moments, but I always found that interesting.
Anyway, what is up with these faces that are almost frightening and is this a cross-cultural phenomenon? How does it relate to the psychology and sociology of sex. What does it say about male fantasy. Anyone have any thoughts? Did anyone have to practice the stage faces?
