Aw! you shouldn't feel like a bad person. I'm like this too just the other day i thought i put my keys in my purse, so on the way out the door i just grabbed my bag & closed the door behind me & when i went to reach for my keys i couldn't find them, so i had to break into my own house to look for my keys, i spent an hour looking for them just to realize i had them in my sweater pocket all along. It sucks i know, just wanted to let you know that you're not the only one.

i have lost 3 sets of keys in the last year. I opened the passenger side door with my set and left them in the door....needless to say they were gone by the time i remembered them as we were driving down the highway.

I have a little spot where I empty my pockets when I get home. Coin jar, phone charger, spot for the keys and wallet. Same place everytime. I cashed in the change recently, more than a hundred bucks. I stop and check myself before leaving and especially before locking the house door. Keys? Check. Wallet? Check. Phone? Check? etc etc. Just a little pat down and it takes ten seconds.
I'm really absent minded, so I try to put everything in the same spot everyday. Like, I walk in the house, I put the keys in the pantry (right next to my door). I always keep my purse on the kitchen table. ETC.
If it makes you feel better, I added another line to my cell phone (it was only like 20 bucks to do, gave me a free phone and I split the minutes on my plan between the to phones) soley because I loose it so often in the house.....I wanted another phone so I could always call it and find it even if I'm home alone
I've learned that I generally lose my things in the same places. I have a little key holder thing on the wall by the front door which has helped a ton with my keys. I know that I normally put my purse on the floor by the front door or on the dining room table. If I'm missing my sunglasses, they are almost always somewhere in my car. I have a home phone line. It not only saves me minutes on my cellphone plan, but it has helped me many times when I can't find my cell (plus, I have caller ID on my home line that comes with something besides a number... so I know if it's the vet, or my apartment complex, or whatever. It's also easier to listen to voice messages and if I let my cell battery die or leave it in the car... which I often do... it's still possible for people to get ahold of me. I highly recommend having one.)
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

I ALWAYS check for wallet, phone and keys before I leave ANY location (including home or car), even if I dont need any of the above anytime soon. If one of those gets misplaced, I find out very soon.
Now hats and umbrellas are another story....lol (thats why I buy cheap ones!)
You know what else I did to stop loosing my keys? I put a TON of keychains on it. It's huge. I know its bad for your ignition but its easier to find and harder to loose
...No, but seriously, I actually have no idea. I tend to be very good at NOT losing my possessions, but whenever I do lose something I never find it again.
Drought was over. Where was I? Drinks were on the house.
For mixers, my love, you'd poured--what?--even the rain.

I am always losing things, so I backtrack myself, starting where I know I had the thing last and working my towards where I am now. I also have learned that if it isn't where it is supposed to be, it must be somewhere else. This means I stop looking in the same place to see if it has mysteriously appeared there.
If all else fails, I give a pray to St. Anthony (and I'm not even Catholic). But Tony must have a sense of humor, because once I was looking for my staple remover at school and couldn't find it. I gave my prayer (which had always worked before) and still couldn't find it. So, I went to the room next door and borrowed a staple remover from another teacher.
The next day, I opened my drawer and there was my staple remover, right where I had look for it a hundred times. Well, ten times at least. Then I remembered that I hadn't told St. Anthony WHEN I wanted to find my staple remover.

I say that too and he does help me find stuff!
